Former U.S. Senate and Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake said that she has no intention of running for office again.
“We’re not where we need to be on elections. And that’s one of the reasons I don’t want to run again, to be honest. Why put yourself through that torture again?” Lake said, according to The Arizona Republic.

While onstage at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, Lake was asked about her political future.
“I am gonna go help President Trump in Washington, D.C. That’s what I’m gonna do,” Lake added.
President Trump nominated Lake to lead Voice of America, a government-funded international broadcasting media network, in his incoming administration.
“I am pleased to announce that Kari Lake will serve as our next Director of the Voice of America. She will be appointed by, and work closely with, our next head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, who I will announce soon, to ensure that the American values of Freedom and Liberty are broadcast around the World FAIRLY and ACCURATELY, unlike the lies spread by the Fake News Media,” Trump said.
“Kari was a beloved News Anchor in Arizona, which supported me by record margins, for over 20 years,” he added.

A closer look:
From The Arizona Republic:
The day after Lake's remarks, Trump encouraged Republican Karrin Taylor Robson to enter the 2026 race for Arizona governor, telling her in a speech “You’re going to have my support.”
Robson lost the 2022 Republican primary for Arizona governor to Lake. Lake went on to lose to Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs.
"We know the movement that we have in Arizona, and I will never take that for granted. But there is a corrupt machine here that is h***bent on making sure I never hold office. So, I won't put my family (and myself) through the torture of running again," Lake said on Saturday.
"I will go to Washington, D.C., return @VOANews to its glory days, and help President Trump Make America Great Again," she added.

Per the Washington Examiner:
Her political career could be over. Lake lost a narrow gubernatorial race in 2022 to Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) and followed that performance with a loss to Gallego two years later. Despite her fight in both campaigns, Lake inadvertently helped Democrats capture the former Republican-dominated state.
Trump recently endorsed Republican Karrin Taylor Robson, who faced Lake in the 2022 primary for governor, in the 2026 gubernatorial race. Hobbs will likely seek reelection and will be the Democratic nominee.
Such an endorsement likely excludes Lake from the 2026 race, meaning she would have to wait until 2028 for another significant election in the state. By then, Trump will be on his way out of office.
