“I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.”

Have you noticed there is major angst building up lately?

I had a friend mention to me yesterday that it seems like a lot of people are suddenly having overly-emotional responses to things right now, often times out of character for how they would normally respond.

I thought about it for a bit and I realized he’s exactly right.

I’ve been noticing it everywhere I go, have you?

Friends, family, coworkers, random people out in public….everyone just feels tense and “on edge” right now.

And I think I know why: I think we’re all just in one giant holding period right now, with everyone waiting for January 20th.  In the meantime, we’re in this awful purgatory waiting room where Trump is “kind of” President but not officially yet.  Biden and Harris are still technically in office.  And every day there’s a new report on how the Deep State will try and prevent President Trump from actually taking office.

It’s not far-fetched either, keep in mind they’ve already tried to kill him twice.  Literally.  Nothing is “off the table”.  And if you think it is and you think it’s just “fear porn” reporting to be aware of these issues, then you’re the type of person who would rather bury their head in the sand than face reality and prepare for all outcomes.  You’re a blue pill person from the Matrix.

So the fear and the angst and the general unease permeating the world right now is not hard to figure out.

Then even once he does finally take office, if he gets that far, we face the very real and likely prospect they will crash the markets worse than the Great Depression to try and stop the MAGA agenda from having any access.

I think intuitively we all know and see these giant risks and as we sit here in December 2024 in this horrible waiting room, we’re uneasy.  We’re nervous.  We’re tense.

And that tension spilled over yesterday, finally erupting online (mostly on X) as H-1B Visas suddenly became the lightning rod for all this tension.

If you missed it, here’s a summary:

The Fierce H-1B DEBATE: Elon and Vivek Dividing Supporters Over Immigration vs. America First

Elon, Vivek and the Tech Bros on one side....

Laura Loomer, Steve Bannon and others on the other side....

And let's just say it got ugly.

Culminating in this post from Elon Musk himself saying, quote:

"The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.

Take a big step back and FUCK YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend."

Kind of harsh, don't you think?

Many people expected a rift would eventually form between Elon Musk and Donald Trump, but most figured it would be over attention and popularity, not over....H-1B visas.

And yet here we are.

But where exactly does President Trump stand?

He has stayed mostly out of the fray and has criticized H-1B visas in the past, but seemed to change his tune slightly  speaking to the NY Post today:

Here is more from the NY Post:

President-elect Trump told The Post Saturday he supports immigration visas for highly skilled workers, appearing to side with Elon Musk in the roiling intra-MAGA debate on the issue.

“I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas. That’s why we have them,” Trump said by phone, referring to the H-1B program, which permits companies to hire foreign workers in specialty occupations.

“I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program,” added Trump, who restricted access to foreign worker visas in his first administration and has been critical of the program in the past.

MAGA hardliners want Trump to follow through with his promise to promote US workers and impose tougher restrictions on immigration.

Trump’s Saturday comments come a day after Musk vowed to go to “war” on the issue, telling one mocking opponent to go “f–k yourself.”

The flare-up happened after X user Steven Mackey jabbed the billionaire’s defense of the program by using the billionaire’s own words against him.

“Stop trying to optimize something that shouldn’t exist,” a line often used by Musk, Mackey wrote. “Let’s optimize H-1B,” he sarcastically added.

Musk fired back: “The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla, and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.”

The tech billionaire has been criticized by MAGA diehards including Laura Loomer and Ann Coulter — who say the H-1B visa program has been abused and needs to be sharply curtailed.

And influential voices around Trump have publicly begun turning on Musk as well.

“Someone please notify ‘Child Protective Services’— need to do a ‘wellness check’ on this toddler,” former White House Counselor Steve Bannon jeered at the X boss in a Saturday post to his account on Gettr.

Meanwhile, as the dust has started to settle, perhaps the two sides are not that far off from each other as it initially seemed.

WallzStreetMav posted the following on X to which Elon Musk replied "Of course" and then noted the minimum was set in the 1990s at $60k and should be more like $120k today:

I would argue even higher than $120k is needed.

There seems to be general agreement that having an open platform for the best and brightest to come into the USA quickly and to take NEW jobs not currently being done by anyone is a good thing.  But only for the cream of the crop.

There also seems to be general agreement that using the program to simply replace existing American workers with immigrants who will work for 50% less is wrong and should be stopped immediately.

More agreement here:

Stop all the infighting.

Work together.

Stop all the vitreol.

I think Catturd nailed it with this one:

Exactly right!

But then again, what should we expect from Elon Musk?

He's not trying to get elected to anything.

And he told you who he is....remember this?

He never claimed to be anything other than "Dark Gothic MAGA":

He told you all along.

Seems like a Batman vibe to me....a Superhero fighting for good, but there's definitely some darkness in there.

You're not going to get the same clean Superman image you get from Donald Trump.

With Elon, you get Dark, Gothic Batman.
