Hillary Clinton: Americans Who Post “Misinformation” On Social Media Should Be “Criminally Charged”

Hillary Clinton wants to send Americans who post so-called ‘misinformation’ on social media straight to jail.

Still salty about her loss to President Trump back in 2016, Hillary discussed alleged ‘Russian propaganda’ with Rachel Maddow during a recent interview (really, we’re still on Russiagate?)

During the interview, Clinton said that, “Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda…should be civilly or even in some cases, criminally charged.”

Jail time would be a “better deterrence,” she claimed.

For what?

Free speech?

Breitbart provided more context for the clip:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday called for Americans to be “criminally charged” if they engage in speech that sounds like Russian propaganda.

“I also think there are Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda, and whether they should be civilly or even in some cases, criminally charged, is something that would be a better deterrence,” she told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow in an interview.

Maddow brought up recent actions taken by the Biden-Harris Justice and State Departments against Russians who were allegedly pushing pro-Russian propaganda through a Canadian-owned media company based in Tennessee that worked with podcasters popular with conservatives and Independent audiences. The Biden administration also accused Russian entities of trying to influence the 2024 presidential election through websites that looked like legitimate news websites.

Although the Justice Department said in an indictment that the podcasters were deceived and did not know the Tennessee-based company they were working with was also being paid by Russians, the left has accused them of being Russian agents simply for not supporting the Ukraine War.

Clinton’s call for Americans to be criminally charged for “parrot[ing] Russian talking points” would apply to anyone who voiced opinions baselessly deemed to be Russian propaganda.

The Wrap added:

Hillary Clinton says Americans who, whether knowingly or not, share political misinformation should face potential civil – or even criminal – legal consequences.

The 2016 Democratic presidential candidate made that comment during an appearance on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show on Monday night, after the host asked Clinton whether the U.S. government is taking foreign attempts to spread propaganda “seriously enough.” The question was tied to the Justice Department’s recent indictment of two RT employees who covertly funded right-leaning commentators.

“I also think are Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda, and whether they should civilly, or even in some cases criminally charged, is something that would be a better deterrent,” Clinton told Maddow. “Because the Russians are unlikely, except in a very few cases, to stand trial in the United States.”

“We need to uncover all of the connections. You can vote however you want, but we are not going to let adversaries — whether it is Russia, China, Iran or anybody else — basically try to influence Americans as to how we should vote in picking our leaders.”

The Justice Department claimed RT spent $10 million “to pump pro-Russia propaganda and disinformation across social media to U.S. audiences.” The indictment said RT paid up to $400,000 for political commentators to make videos; those commentators, according to the indictment, were duped and unaware their paychecks were coming from Russia.

People aren’t too pleased with Hillary’s call for jailing Americans who participate in spreading Russian disinformation, of all things.

I mean, how hypocritical can you get?

This is Hillary Clinton, we’re talking about…
