Trump’s campaign manager, Chris LaCivita, has revealed that Kamala Harris will likely choose Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate.

In a post on X, LaCivita wrote, “Reliable Sources confirm, Kamala To Pick Governor Shapiro from PA.”

The Harris campaign has already sent Shapiro vetting papers as a possible VP pick.

The Harris campaign has also sent vetting materials to Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois Gov governor J.B. Pritzker, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

With Vice President Kamala Harris locking up enough support from Democratic delegates to earn the party’s presidential nomination, ABC News reports that Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is one of the top candidates to be Harris’ running mate.

A senior administration official told ABC News that Shapiro and Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly are the leading candidates.

The vetting process is just getting underway, but as a young, popular governor from a swing state, Shapiro may be an appealing choice to Democrats hoping to shore up support in 2024 battleground states, said political analyst Kristen Coopie, director of pre-law at Duquesne University.

When asked about the possibility of joining a ticket with Harris, Shapiro said, “I’m not going to engage in hypotheticals,” as he appeared at a Pittsburgh-area news conference to tout federal funding from the Environmental Protection Agency on Monday.
