“Multiple people are reportedly injured during the national anthem at the opening ceremonies for the Stadium of Fire 4th of July show at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah. At least five mortars shot directly into the audience,” Rawsalerts wrote.

“The exact number and severity of injuries are unknown at this time, but some of those hurt were transported to the hospital. One witness reported seeing a person get hit in the face by a firework. “We were on the North end and we didn’t see how many people left on the East end, but it was enough that you could see the gap where they pulled the people out and then they announced over the intercom for people to go to the medical tents if they needed attention,” Grundvig recalled.

After the incident, he said medical teams were quick to swoop in and help.

“First responders were all over and they stopped everything and took care of business,” Grundvig said in part.

“They took, it was about 20 minutes, 15-20 minutes, and then they started back up,” he added. “They just made sure everyone was all right and they did make sure that no one else needed attention.”

At least one person was seriously injured when a couple of stray fireworks struck the crowd at the Stadium of Fire celebration in Provo Thursday evening.

Videos recorded from the stands at LaVell Edwards Stadium show several errant fireworks fly into the stands just as the jet flyover was being introduced at the annual America’s Freedom Festival fireworks show and concert on Independence Day. State troopers and Provo police told KSL multiple people in the east section of stands were struck, including one person who was hit in the face and seriously hurt.

That person was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Soon after the fireworks landed in the stands, hundreds of people began yelling and waving their arms to call for medical attention for those who were struck. The show was briefly paused while responders attended to the injured, but resumed about 9 p.m.
