After a bitter campaign in which she learned the hard way that the Republican Party’s is still firmly aligned with Donald Trump, Nikki Haley dropped out of the primary race and refused to endorse her rival and former boss.
Months later, the ex-United Nations ambassador is ready to announce which presidential candidate she plans to vote for in November.
According to Fox News:
Haley, who was Trump’s last rival in the GOP primaries before suspending her campaign more than two months ago, and who has not endorsed the former president, was asked during a question-and-answer session following her address Tuesday at a conservative think tank in the nation’s capital whether Biden or Trump was stronger on national security issues.
“Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I have made that clear many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe. So, I will be voting for Trump,” Haley said.
To be sure, it was anything but an enthusiastic endorsement. Nevertheless, it represents just the latest example of a former rival falling in line behind the presumptive nominee.
Her announcement sparked some conversation on social media:

Joe Biden clearly wanted Haley to endorse him, bringing her dozens of supporters along with her in a desperate bid to help his re-election campaign limp across the finish line.
As NBC News reported earlier this year:
Biden also urged her supporters to support his re-election campaign.
“Donald Trump made it clear he doesn’t want Nikki Haley’s supporters. I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign,” Biden said. “I know there is a lot we won’t agree on. But on the fundamental issues of preserving American democracy, on standing up for the rule of law, on treating each other with decency and dignity and respect, on preserving NATO and standing up to America’s adversaries, I hope and believe we can find common ground.”
In response to news of Haley dropping out of the race, Trump slammed his former challenger in a statement.
“Nikki Haley got TROUNCED last night, in record setting fashion, despite the fact that Democrats, for reasons unknown, are allowed to vote in Vermont, and various other Republican Primaries,” Trump said, referring to her only Super Tuesday victory in Vermont.
Trump has also landed more than a few blows against his rival, including after he handily won the New Hampshire primary:
