(WATCH) HUNDREDS of People Line Up At Atlanta IRS Tax Center: “I Want My Money”

This is insanity.

At a tax center in Atlanta, GA earlier today, hundreds of people turned out in a long line that wrapped around the building.

Many of these people said they were there to verify their identity after receiving emails or letters from the IRS notifying them that they had to do this in-person before they could receive their tax returns.

See for yourself:

Fox Carolina News reported:

Long lines wrapped around Atlanta’s Tax Assistance Center Saturday morning.

The IRS held extended hours ahead of Monday’s tax deadline. People were able to speak one-on-one with an IRS representative at the event.

People were camped out in lawn chairs as early as 6 a.m. ahead of the 9 a.m. event — and many told Atlanta News First that they didn’t come by choice.

“All I need to do is verify my identity, and that’s it. It’s a tiny process,” one attendee said.

A majority of the people in line had received an email or letter from the IRS stating they had to verify their identity in person. The notification went on to say their refund was being held until they did so.

WSB Atlanta also said:

At a scheduled walk-in event to help taxpayers at the Atlanta Internal Revenue Service office, hundreds showed up in a line that was wrapped around the building for several blocks.

Channel 2′s Veronica Griffin went to the IRS office on W. Peachtree Street to learn more, where some in the line told her they’d received letters saying their refunds were being held until some information could be verified.

Most of the people in line who Griffin spoke to had received a date and time to come verify themselves, but in some cases, those dates are months away. Saturday’s event was for walk-in appointments.

Some taxpayers, like Leslie Gabriel, say they have been outside the building since 7 a.m. to try and get to the front of the line.

It’s funny how they strictly enforce ID verification when they have to pay YOU money.

Yet, when it comes to national elections, this is somehow racist and unjust.

Hmm….

Folks on social media pointed out the hypocrisy:
