BREAKING: Shooting In Philadelphia at Event Gathering of over 1,000

Another outbreak of violence occured in Philadelphia on Wednesday during an Islamic Eid event.

Numerous people were injured, though no reports of death.

This shooting involved three men, one woman and a 15-year with a rifle.

All five have been arrested.

Forget the bird flu, this seems to be the real virus that’s spreading across the nation.

Unbridled lust for bloodshed with the culprits knowing the law is on their side, which only emboldens them to keep this trend going.

Fox News reports:

Multiple people were injured as dozens of shots were fired during an Eid event in West Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon where around 1,000 attendees gathered to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

According to police, three people were shot during an end of Ramadan event near the 4700 block of Wyalusing Avenue. One of the wounded was shot by a police officer.

Approximately 30 gunshots were fired during the shooting, officials say.

An officer assigned to the area engaged a 15-year-old who Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel says was armed with a gun. Sources say the 15-year-old was armed with an assault rifle. The officer shot the teen twice when police say he did not drop the gun.

The officer then put the 15-year-old into her patrol vehicle and rushed him to the hospital.

A 23-year-old man sustained a gunshot to his stomach. Another juvenile arrived at a nearby hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the hands.

Police have taken five people into custody: three men, one woman and the 15-year-old who was shot by police. Five weapons were also recovered at the scene.

Police sources say the do not believe the suspects were connected to the peaceful celebration.

The Eid-al-Fitr event was located near the Philadelphia Masjid mosque which faces a park.

Evidence marker 30 was placed next to a bullet and a woman’s shoe on the playground at the park which is a part of the crime scene.

At least no one was killed and the 5 suspects have been apprehended.

Yahoo! News adds:

Police believe that the shooting occurred between two “factions within the park” who had exchanged an estimated 30 gunshots at approximately 2:30 p.m. local time. Similarly, citing an unnamed law enforcement officer, CNN said police believe the shooting occurred between two groups.

Details surrounding the shooting and casualties are currently unclear.

CNN reported that at least two individuals, including one who is a suspect, were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and three others also showed up at the hospital themselves. According to CBS News, the Philadelphia Fire Department took one person to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The shooting — which occurred on Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim celebration that signifies the end of the fasting holy month of Ramadan — happened near the Philadelphia Masjid, a local mosque that had been holding an event, per NBC affiliate WCAU.

Technically, as of now, this shooting doesn’t fall under “mass shooting” because there are not 4 known victims shot.

But I think we can call this an ‘attempted mass shooting’.
