It’s the end of an era for fans of the staple game show Wheel of Fortune.
Last year, longtime host Pat Sajak announced that he intended to leave the show sometime in 2024, and the final episode featuring Sajak has been set to air on June 7, 2024.
Sajak has hosted the show for four decades beginning in 1981. This makes Sajak the longest contiguous game show host in American television history.
In my opinion, shows like Wheel of Fortune are every bit as dependent on the host as they are on the content of the program.

Fox News featured this statement from Sajak’s co-host Vanna White:
“When we started Wheel of Fortune who could have imagined we’d still be at it 41 seasons later?
I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come.
Cheers to you, Pat Sajak!”
Sajak will be replaced in June by Ryan Seacrest, who is another popular longtime host and media personality. Seacrest is widely known for his work across radio media and the music industry.
