Biden Admin: Just Kidding, We’re Not Refilling The Strategic Oil Reserves!

Last month, the Biden administration committed to buying up to 3 million barrels of oil to remedy the declining Strategic Petroleum Reserves (SPR).

Designed to be used for times of emergency, the SPR has seen a 43% decline since 2021, when the Biden administration started emptying the reserves as a way of offsetting rising gas prices around the country.

In a recent reversal, the Department of Energy stated the price of oil is currently too high and has halted the move to refill the SPR.

Some have called out the Biden administration’s decision to renege on the proposal as an example of their having questionable priorities.

Others have noticed that when Trump was in office, filling the SPR was somehow doable.

This news isn’t encouraging as the Biden administration, through their foreign intervention policies, has been doing everything necessary to stir up another big war.

Fox Business has more on Biden’s failure to refill America’s emergency supply of oil:

Overall, the president ordered DOE to release a total of about 260 million barrels of oil from the SPR in 2021 and 2022. Although the administration has recently initiated the process of refilling the reserve, Republican lawmakers and energy experts have warned its actions make the U.S. vulnerable to short-term supply shocks.

“It’s pure insanity to watch the Biden administration cut American oil production and then claim they can’t refill our critical reserve because of the price,” said Daniel Turner, founder and executive director of watchdog group Power the Future.

“Joe Biden drained the SPR for political reasons, cut our domestic production for his climate agenda, and now he’s leaving our critical reserve more vulnerable because he’s incompetent,” he continued. “As a result, Americans are paying more at the pump, more at the grocery store and our SPR is less full during a time of rising turmoil in the Middle East.”
