Time for another Fact-Check because once again the Legacy Media is lying to you!
When I opened up my email and Twitter feed this morning, I was bombarded with claims that Elon Musk has suddenly reinstated a rule on Twitter against “misgendering” people with the wrong pronouns.
Fox Business ran this headline:
From that Fox Business article, here is a portion:
After Elon Musk acquired the Twitter platform in response to a satire outlet being banned for misgendering, he has since defended reinstating a version of rules against such conduct.
Musk famously purchased the Twitter platform after it had suspended the Babylon Bee, a Christian satire outlet for tweeting a headline naming the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Rachel Levine, who identifies as transgender, as 2022’s “Man of the Year.”
But after having rebranded the platform as X, Musk appears to have replaced certain guidelines against misgendering or using the former names of transgender individuals. In an article headlined, “X quietly revived anti-misgendering policy that Musk dropped last year,” Ars Technica was reportedly among the first to note “X’s updated policy confirms that X will ‘reduce the visibility of posts that purposefully use different pronouns to address someone other than what that person uses for themselves, or that use a previous name that someone no longer goes by as part of their transition.’”
ADVERTISEMENT“Musk has since been called out on his platform by some of its most popular users,” the activist behind LibsOfTikTok, Chaya Raichik, wrote. “Apparently X might’ve reinstated their “misgendering” rule so I gotta test it out… Richard Levine is male. He is a man. Dylan Mulvaney is male. He is a man. Ellen Page is female. She is a woman. If I get suspended you can find me at @libsoftiktok.”
First of all, does Fox Business have any actual journalists over there?
I’d even settle for someone with a basic grasp of the English language and knowledge of how to properly construct an article.
What in the world is going on with that first sentence?
Elon Musk acquired Twitter in response to a satire outlet being banned?
Really?
That’s what passes for journalism these days? Claiming that Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion just because one satire account got banned?
That may have been a very, very small sliver of the pie of reasons why Elon Musk bought Twitter, but I’m pretty sure that was not the single driving factor the way that article makes it seem.
Good grief Fox Business, might be time to increase your hiring standards.
Anyway, not only is that first sentence wildly inaccurate, but the underlying claim that Elon Musk reinstated misgendering rules is also not true.
But people quickly freaked out about the news:
Well, guess what, ELON?
I will continue correcting trans ppl. If you're born with a penis, I will say him/he/man/boy. Visa versa for the women. Period. Shadow ban me. IDGAF.
This is what I think about yalls pronouns: 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼 pic.twitter.com/6bFdnQh3dW

Does Elon seriously want me to use she/her pronouns when referring to this dude🤷🏽♀️👇🏽 pic.twitter.com/DbAmg06R9J

Elon caved to the woke mob again. X will start reducing our visibility again if we do not call these mentally ill people by their preferred pronouns.
MISGENDERING is labeling someone anything other than the gender God gave them. I will not deviate from this truth.

Elon Musk gave us the whole "woke mind virus is either defeated or nothing else matter" and how pronouns are used as a shield by bad people and are a part of the woke mind virus.
Now Twitter/X will reducing visibility aka shadowbanning (which it keeps claiming it doesn't do)… pic.twitter.com/t65ZUH2caL

But Elon himself started responding and said he would look into it, which immediately suggests he had nothing to do with the rule being reinstated, much to the contrary of all the headlines ran by the Lying Legacy Media:
In fact, Elon has been on record since summer of 2023 saying he does not agree with banning people for “misgendering” — remember this famous Tweet?
This was a mistake by many people at Twitter. It is definitely allowed.
Whether or not you agree with using someone’s preferred pronouns, not doing so is at most rude and certainly breaks no laws.
I should note that I do personally use someone’s preferred pronouns, just as I…

At 10am today, March 2, 2024, Elon Musk posted this reply to Tim Pool:
I agree
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 2, 2024
And then he confirmed exactly what was going on here….
Elon had nothing to do with it.
Turns out he didn’t even know about it.
Turns out it was related to a Court Order in Brazil and does not apply outside of Brazil:
Turns out this was due to a court judgment in Brazil, which is being appealed, but should not apply outside of Brazil

That would be a MAJOR difference from how the Lying Legacy Media tried to report it.
Good thing you have us!
Elon Musk seems to be picking up on our vibes, writing literally almost the same thing we keep telling you: “The Legacy Media lies as easy as breathing”:
The legacy media lies as easy as breathing. Reuters is the worst right now. https://t.co/uP8DiQFEgQ
