Is Trump Considering DeSantis As His VP?

President Trump, during his latest sit-down interview with Laura Ingraham, gave his shortlist of possible VP nominees.

During the interview, Ingraham read off several possible VP picks such as Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, Vivek Ramaswamy, Gov. Kristi Noem, Rep. Byron Donalds, and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii.

Ingraham then proceeded to ask Trump if any of those names was on his shortlist of VP considerations, to which Trump responded, “They are.”

Around the same time, Trump gave his shortlist, DeSantis was in South Carolina and had this to say about Trump.

Here’s what Fox News added:

Former President Trump indicated that at least a half a dozen contenders – including three former rivals for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination – are on his shortlist for running mate.

The commanding frontrunner for the GOP nomination had plenty of praise for one of those potential candidates who joined Trump at Fox News town hall on Tuesday in this upstate South Carolina city.

During the program, which ran on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Trump was asked about half a dozen potential running mate choices: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida, and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, a Democrat turned independent.

“Are they all on your shortlist?” host Laura Ingraham asked the former president.

“They are,” Trump answered. “Honestly, all of those people are good. They’re all good, they’re all solid.”

Per Herald Tribune:

In a visit that stoked more speculation that he still has his eyes on the White House, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis traveled to the South Carolina State House Tuesday to promote his push for a Constitutional Convention on congressional term limits.

DeSantis’ trip to speak with South Carolina lawmakers came just four days before the state’s Feb. 24 Republican presidential primary, and was another example of the governor angling for national attention despite dropping out of the presidential race.

Since ending his presidential campaign on Jan. 21, DeSantis has continued to focus on national issues such as the border problem and federal government reforms. The governor announced he is deploying more members of the Florida National Guard to the border and has been pushing for a series of constitutional amendments.

Visiting South Carolina so close to the presidential primary raised questions about DeSantis’ motivations for the trip. Asked during Tuesday’s press conference if he was positioning himself for the 2028 presidential campaign, DeSantis said “It’s not about that.”

What’s your take on DeSantis possibly being Trump’s VP?
