Omar Pledges Allegiance To Somalia, Is This A Violation Of Her Oath Of Office?

I said it when Rep. Brian Mast wore an IDF uniform on the House floor, and I’ll say it again: elected representatives of the United States should be punished to the fullest extent of the law if they represent the interests of foreign countries.

Ilhan Omar has long been suspected as a political figure who does not have America’s best interests at heart, and recent remarks made by the Democrat lawmaker add to the growing list of confirmations supporting this notion.

A newly surfaced video shared by Somalia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs shows Omar addressing a crowd at a hotel in Minneapolis.

In the video, Omar tells the crowd that she is Somali first and Muslim second, nowhere in her speech does she even mention America—the country she took an oath to represent.

The same country that has given her a lifestyle that few ever achieve, and the vast majority can only dream of.

Take a look at her comments and let us know if you believe this is a violation of her sworn oath of office:

Omar attempted to defend her remarks: “It’s not only slanted but completely off, but I wouldn’t expect more from these propagandists. I pray for them and for their sanity.

No nation state can survive if its states start to get involved in land lease negotiations with other countries without the consent of the federal government.

Somalis in Somalia and in the diaspora are united in that effort and I stand in solidarity with them. No amount of harassment and lies will ever change that.”

Washington Examiner had more on the video:

In the video, the liberal Minnesota leader was addressing a crowd in a Minneapolis hotel when she spoke about Somaliland and the unrecognized state’s deal with Ethiopia, which Somalia alleges infringes on its territory.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Somaliland issued this statement in response to Omar’s comments:

“We were profoundly surprised, even shocked on discovering the remarks made by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D) of Minnesota in a recent public forum, widely circulated on most social media platforms and attached below for your reference.

The language she employed was regrettably unbecoming of both the office she holds and the constituents she represents.

Her expressions were lacking in common decency and revealed a significant lack of understanding of basic facts.

Specifically troubling, were her endeavors to revive the once-violent and dangerous ideology of Greater Somalia or Somali Weyn, which caused so much death, destruction and conflict in the Horn of Africa.

Furthermore, her use of ethno-racist rhetoric didn’t escape attention and left many, with a deep sense of disappointment.

This was particularly bewildering for those who recall similar racist attacks she endured not long ago, of being ”not American enough” and was baffling to see her take a similar approach and accuse the entire Somaliland nation of “falsely claiming Somali identity.”

Moreover, her ignorance of US – Somaliland cooperation in the fight against terror and piracy in the Gulf of Aden & Gulf Of Berbera was shocking to say the least.

We hope the house leadership and her caucus will take note of her public conduct, unbecoming a United States Congresswoman nor representative of the august house she serves in.”

End Wokeness speculated: “Remember when they called us crazy for saying that the proposed Minnesota flag looked like Ilhan Omar’s home region? Well, on Saturday, Ilhan Omar spoke to a crowd of Somalians who waved that flag while she pledged allegiance to Somalia. Tell me if you see the resemblance.”

Newsmax added:

An English translation of Omar’s comments — which has not been verified by the Washington Examiner — to an apparently Somali American audience says she’s in Congress to represent Somali Americans’ interests and that the “U.S. will do what we want and nothing else.”
