Despite his Democratic Party roots, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has attracted some support on the right for his defense of free speech and opposition to vaccine mandates.
That’s why some people thought it was plausible for 2024 GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump to have considered him as a possible running-mate. Reports in recent days have cited unnamed sources who advanced that theory — but a Trump spokesperson quickly threw cold water on any such speculation.
According to Breitbart:
Reports citing anonymous sources purportedly close to Donald Trump alleging “preliminary overtures” were made to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about serving as the former president’s running mate in 2024 are fake news, the Trump campaign declared Sunday.
Fox News ran with the story, citing the New York Post as its primary source for the claim Kennedy, 70, was tapped about the possibility of becoming Trump’s running mate in the 2024 presidential election.
“Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” one person familiar with the matter told the outlet, adding it was “right out of the box when Bobby announced” in April 2023 that he was making a run for the White House.
Here’s what Trump World insider Chris LaCivita had to say about the rumors:
This is 100% FAKE NEWS – NO ONE from the Trump Campaign ever approached RFK jr (or ever will) – one of the most LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country. For all the fake news- update your stories. https://t.co/HYBJLqSux0

Plenty of other social media users also shared their thoughts about the reports.
No shit…how did this fake news ever get written in the first place???

Kennedy also made news this week with comments that seemed to signal he’s considering a Libertarian Party bid as a way to earn a spot on ballots nationwide in November’s general election.
As The Hill reported:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. signaled he is open to running as a Libertarian Party candidate in 2024 as he continues his quest of getting on the ballot in all 50 states come November.
During his appearance on CNN Saturday morning, Kennedy was asked by anchor Michael Smerconish if he would seek the Libertarian Party nomination as he is still running as an independent to make sure he can appear on the ballot in all 50 states and in D.C.
Kennedy said he is open to that possibility, mentioning that he has a “really good” relationship with the Libertarian Party and that he might speak at the party’s Californian convention soon.
“That is something that we’re looking at,” Kennedy said on Saturday. “We have a really good, relationship with the Libertarian Party. I’m going to be speaking at the California Libertarian Party convention. I think it’s next week or maybe in a couple of weeks. And, we’re talking about me talking about me speaking in New York.”
The subject of Trump’s pick for vice president continues to fuel media debate, as evidenced by this recent clip from NewsNation:
