BREAKING: Republican Senator Hospitalized


Iowa Republican U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley has been hospitalized.

According to Grassley’s office, the 90-year-old senator is being treated for an infection.

Grassley is in stable condition and is currently receiving antibiotic infusions.

His team office  he is “in good spirits and will return to work when cleared to do so.”

Per CBS Iowa:

Senator Chuck Grassley’s office says he is in the hospital receiving treatment for an infection.

“He is in good spirits and will return to work as soon as possible following doctors’ orders,” a statement from Grassley’s office says.

Grassley is 90 years old and has been serving in the U.S. Senate representing Iowa since 1981. The Republican from New Hartford won reelection in 2022 and his term runs through 2028.

Per CNN:

Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, who is 90 years old, is being treated at a hospital in Iowa for an infection, his office announced Tuesday.

“Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is receiving antibiotic infusions at an area hospital to treat an infection,” his office said in a brief statement. “He is in good spirits and will return to work as soon as possible following doctors’ orders.”

Grassley’s absence comes just days before a deadline for a partial government shutdown. Congressional leaders have agreed to a deal to keep the federal government funded into March, but both parties will need to supply votes to pass the legislation through both chambers before the Friday deadline.
