Connor McGregor: “It Would Not Be Me In Power As President, People Of Ireland. It Would Be ME AND YOU!”

I don’t know much about UFC or sports, but I know Connor McGregor doesn’t play around.

The UFC champion has been making a slew of comments recently following the tragic stabbing of multiple individuals, including several children, at the hands of an Algerian migrant.

Officials in Ireland have attempted to shut McGregor down and have even pressed ‘hate speech’ charges against him for speaking out against the Irish government’s failed immigration policies.

Now, we are seeing his strongest remarks yet indicating that he may run for President of Ireland.

McGregor had this to say: “Potential competition if I run. Gerry, 78. Bertie. 75. Enda, 74. Each with unbreakable ties to their individual party’s politics.

Regardless of what the public outside of their parties feel. These parties govern themselves vs govern the people. Or me, 35. Young, active, passionate, fresh skin in the game. I listen. I support. I adapt.

I have no affiliation/bias/favoritism toward any party. They would genuinely be held to account regarding the current sway of public feeling. I’d even put it all to vote.

There’d be votes every week to make sure. I can fund. It would not be me in power as President, people of Ireland. It would be me and you.”

The UFC champion has been particularly vocal in the wake of the horrific knife attacks committed at the hands of an Algerian migrant and stated:

“My statements, widely publicized, stand. I remove after they have been up and well reported on for a plethora of reasons. Some personal. Seeing my country in flames hurts my heart.

Seeing a man label a person who stabs innocent children in broad daylight a “gentleman” sickens me. As it stands I am not appointed by the state. I post my thoughts, I allow reporting, then I am in my right to remove from my line.

It is also time effective. I have 4 children. A major fight incoming. Multiple businesses with almost 300 people employed, and growing, I need to be correct with my time.

Engaging with so much on here can impact in a multitude of ways. Clearing the slate, after it gets reported, I am happy with.

I know some don’t like this but it keeps me dialed in. I’m still here. I’d give my life for the peace and prosperity of Ireland. Ireland gave me everything I have, I’d give it right back if and when it calls.”

The Mirror reports:

Fans reacted positively to McGregor’s tweet with one saying, “A man of the people, by the people! Ireland has a choice, Tyranny or Freedom.

The choice is theirs to make, but the world calls for Conor!” Another added: “Ireland needs a fresh face, someone who actually cares about the nation regardless of political party.”

McGregor also said: “Truth they don’t want to speak. Attempt to scapegoat me all you wish. If it makes you feel better, I will take it.

The truth of the many failed policies of this government however, will never stop being the reason we have innocent children in hospital on life support after being stabbed by a deranged criminal, and whose current conditions are being hid from the public.

Shame on government and those harboring this and trying to avert from the causes of this. Shame!”

The UFC fighter also called for common-sense immigration reform in Ireland: “I do not connect crime with migration. I connect crime to your governments many failed policies in protecting and securing the inhabitants of Ireland.

There is a real lapse in national security. We need a brand new task force founded to assess all entrants into Ireland. Our natives and our visitors will all benefit with this peace of mind.

We need deportation of those here illegally or that have committed a crime here. There needs to be a brand new unit founded specifically for this task. Call it “Ireland Protect.”

According to Express.UK:

McGregor, 35, has been a vocal critic of the Irish Government this week since the sentencing of Jozef Puska for the murder of Irish schoolteacher Ashling Murphy.

Saturday saw the five-time world champion sharing a widely recirculated court statement from Murphy’s boyfriend, Ryan Casey.

McGregor then criticised the response from Tánaiste Micheál Martin to the questions put forward by Casey.
