Ivanka Trump Appeals Order To Take The Stand In Trump Fraud Case

Ivanka Trump has appealed Judge Engoron’s order to testify in court in the $250 million fraud case against President Trump.

The case claims President Trump purposely overvalued his properties to get favorable bank loans.

Donald Trump Jr. took the stand today and is expected to make another appearance tomorrow.

Ivanka is hoping to get out of having to testify with this appeal.

Judge Engoron allowed Ivanka to appeal after giving the order that she must testify.

More from the folks at the Daily Mail:

The former first daughter’s attorney filed a motion on Wednesday notifying the court of the intent to appeal, arguing she isn’t a defendant and hasn’t work in New York City since 2017. Ivanka Trump was scheduled to testify on November 8th.

Her father and her brothers are also appearing in court. Don Jr. appeared on Wednesday, becoming the first family member to take the stand and defend himself over accusations the Trump Organization inflated their wealth and assets for decades.

‘I should have worn makeup!’ the 45-year-old joked as photographers took pictures of him while sitting at the bench with his lawyers.

Former President Donald Trump did not show up in court on Wednesday, but took aim at Judge Arthur Engoron in a post online which read: ‘Leave my children alone, Engoron. You are a disgrace to the legal profession!’

Some are suspicious that Ivanka doesn’t want to testify and potentially support her father.

But here’s the thing.

Lawsuits are expensive.

I don’t doubt they are paying for some costly lawyers.

You must also understand that this is taking much time out of their lives.

I think it is likely that Ivanka truly has nothing to add to the case, so she sees no point in participating.

USA Today has more on the Trump family testifying in court:

New York Attorney General Letitia James, who sued Trump and his family members last year, subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump to testify about their business practices.

“As high-level employees of the Trump Organization, all three Trump children have information that could shed light on the valuation of properties at the heart of the case,” said Barb McQuade a former federal prosecutor and law professor at the University of Michigan.

McQuade said the children “are being called to testify not because of their relationship to Trump but because of their roles in the business.”

And furthermore:

New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron has already ruled in favor of most of the claims against Trump, saying in late September that Trump committed fraud when he submitted inflated financial statements to banks and insurance companies.

While a few of the claims are not resolved, most of the current trial is devoted to assessing financial damages.

James is seeking $250 million from the Trump family. The Attorney General’s Office also wants to ban the Trumps from ever operating again in New York state.

This case is bogus.

It should have never been brought to court, and now you have an extremely biased judge who appears to want to do nothing more but to make a fool out of President Trump.
