Biden has signed an executive order that seeks to regulate artificial intelligence (AI) to create a safer environment for the future.
Some of the things that Biden wants is for all AI research to report to the government, to train AI to push equity and civil rights, and to prevent AI from discrimination.
I’m sure this sweeping 100-page executive order will indeed have no negative consequences on the further development of AI…
Right?
Of course, it will!

In other words, this is Biden seeking to control AI so that the government can use it for whatever purpose.
Like pushing more woke propaganda onto the masses.
Forbes expresses their concern in a new article:
Coming in at more than 100 pages in length, the executive order is a directive across the “whole of government” to begin regulating this sweeping new technology that has the potential to revolutionize entire sectors of the economy and our lives, from education to healthcare to finance. The order directs or makes requests of countless federal agencies, from the Departments of Energy and Homeland Security to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Housing Financing Agency, just to name a few. These agencies, in turn, have the authority to issue regulations that carry the force of law.
One of the order’s more important mandates requires that companies developing the most advanced AI models report to the government information on model training, parameter weights, and safety testing. Transparency about results of safety tests sounds practical, but in reality it could discourage tech companies from doing more testing, since results need to be shared with the federal government. Moreover, the very essence of AI research is iterative experimentation, and this mandate could bog down companies in red tape and reporting when they should be tweaking their models to improve safety. Given these tradeoffs, it’s unclear that all the reporting will improve safety for anyone.
Rather than try to identify problems and think of targeted solutions, the order simply assumes that factors like computing power and the number of model parameters are the right metrics to begin assessing risk. No evidence is offered to justify these assumptions. Other components of the order are similarly overly-simplistic. For example, it directs the Office of Management and Budget, Commerce Department, and Homeland Security Department to identify steps to watermark AI-generated content. This is a bit like using a band-aid on a bone fracture. Sophisticated bad actors will be able to remove watermarks or produce high-quality deepfake content without them.
This is the result of an 80-year-old man who is so out of touch with the world and is in charge of one of the most powerful countries in the world.
Obviously, Biden didn’t write this.
Hell, he doesn’t even speak his own words; he’s told what to say!
That’s what makes executive orders scary.
Rather than Congress going through a rigorous process to pass regulations, the President gets to pass sweeping orders that must be obeyed.

ABC News shares more on the story:
The executive order instructs a wide swathe of government agencies to implement changes in their use of AI, elevating federal institutions as examples of practices that the administration ultimately hopes will be adopted by the private sector.
Federal benefits programs and contractors, for instance, will take steps to ensure that AI does not worsen racial bias in their activities, the White House said. Similarly, the Department of Justice will establish rules around how best to investigate AI-related Civil Rights abuses.
Meanwhile, the Department of Energy as well as the Department of Homeland Security will take steps to address the threat that AI poses for critical infrastructure.
Robert Weissman, the president of Washington D.C.-based consumer advocacy group Public Citizen, commended the executive order while acknowledging its limitations.
“Today’s executive order is a vital step by the Biden administration to begin the long process of regulating rapidly advancing AI technology,” Weissman said. “But it’s only a first step.”
Just wait.
Now that this executive order is passed, it is only a matter of time before the government regulates AI to death or uses it to weaponize its propaganda machine.
