Squad Members Facing Backlash With Israel Ceasefire Resolution

On Monday, U.S. Representatives Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, and other far-left House Democrats called for an end to the nine-day-old war in Israel with a resolution that referred to the massacre of over 1,300 people as “armed violence.”

Instead of showing solidarity with the Israelis, the Squad and other far-left liberals have shown more support for Palestine.

The resolution called on the Biden administration to “immediately call for and facilitate de-escalation and a cease-fire to urgently end the current violence” and “promptly send and facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.”

According to the Detroit Free Press, Tlaib, who has been displaying a Palestinian flag outside her office, blasted the Biden administration last week for not showing enough empathy toward the Palestinian people and said she wants the United States to send aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

Here’s a portion of the Detroit Free Press article:

“We need legislation that saves as many lives as possible, no matter one’s faith or ethnicity,” Tlaib said in a statement. “I am proud to join my colleagues and a coalition of human rights advocates in calling for de-escalation, ceasefire and a strong humanitarian response that prevents more devastating civilian casualties across the region.”

On a teleconference with reporters, Tlaib noted that a Livonia couple, Zakaria and Lalia Alarayshi, who went to Gaza in September to visit family, has been trapped there. The congresswoman said she spoke to Zakaria by phone about conditions there, including their not having fresh water, and that he broke down in tears.

The New York Post reported that the resolution was quickly met with backlash, with the Israeli War Room chiming in.

Here’s part of what was reported in the New York Post:

Supporters of Israel blasted the resolution, noting it came as the Jewish state prepared to conduct a ground invasion to destroy Hamas after it murdered more than 1,300 people — including at least 30 Americans.

“We must do everything we can to save lives,’” the Israel War Room X account tweeted in response to Bush. “What do you think Israel is doing? It’s working to dismantle a terrorist organization that has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent civilians from all over the world.”

In addition to the 1,300 Israeli casualties, the State Department confirmed that 30 Americans have been killed, while 13 are unaccounted for. So, you can understand why a lot of people aren’t feeling as sympathetic to the Palestinian cause as the Squad members and their friends.
