Democrat Senator Under Investigation For Allegedly Taking $400,000+ In Illegal Bribes!

Is it just me or do the words “democrat” and “corruption” seem to always go hand-in-hand?

Another democrat senator is under investigation, and this isn’t his first time!

Democrat senator Bob Menendez is being investigated for allegedly accepting $400,000 in gold bars from a corrupt bank executive.

You may remember that Menendez was in the news for corruption earlier this year.

He was under investigation months ago after he and his wife were accused of receiving improper gifts from a New Jersey business with ties to Egypt.

His corruption goes back further than that though!

In 2017, Mendez also faced criminal corruption charges.

The jurors in that trial were unable to come to a verdict though.

Big surprise, right?

Menendez is up for re-election in 2024.

NBC New York has the latest on Menendez’s corruption:

Federal prosecutors are looking into whether an admitted felon helped arrange to give gold bars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez or his wife in exchange for help, sources familiar with the matter tell News 4.

Investigators want to know if Menendez, a Democrat, offered to contact the Justice Department to try to help that man who was accused of banking crimes. Those questions are now before a federal grand jury in Manhattan that is considering whether to hand up corruption charges against the senior senator from New Jersey.

Sources say witnesses are now testifying before that federal grand jury. Part of the investigation centers on the senator’s ties to Fred Daibes, a New Jersey developer and one-time bank chairman. Officials with the FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation want to know if Daibes or his associates gave gold bars to the senator’s wife, Nadine Arslanian — gold bars worth as much as $400,000.

At the time of the gift handoff, Daibes was facing federal bank fraud charges that could have landed him up to a decade in federal prison.

Sources familiar with the matter say federal prosecutors have been asking if Menendez offered to help support Daibes with his criminal case by contacting Justice Department officials about the case. If the senator did offer to act in exchange for expensive gifts, legal experts say that could be a crime.

The New Jersey Globe also reported on the investigation:

Much of the investigation into Menendez has reportedly centered on the Democratic senator’s connections to Daibes, who had been facing federal bank fraud charges. According to NBC New York’s report, Daibes may have given Menendez or his wife gold bars worth up to $400,000, possibly in exchange for help with the Justice Department on Daibes’ behalf.

It’s not clear exactly where the investigation currently stands, but the Wall Street Journal reported last month that prosecutors are weighing charges against Menendez. It wouldn’t be the first time the senator has faced federal corruption charges; back in 2015, Menendez was hit with bribery charges over his interactions with a Florida ophthalmologist, but the trial ended in a mistrial and he was ultimately acquitted in 2017.

Can this guy just not stay out of trouble?

He may as well be an unofficial member of the Biden family.

Of course, he would get a free pass if that was the case…
