The same thing happened in Hitler’s time, in Czar Nicholas’ time, and just about every time that a government knows its war effort is finished.
New reports indicate that Ukraine has experienced a major shakeup of its senior military brass.
Six high-ranking members of Ukraine’s defense ministry have all been scrapped by a newly appointed defense minister named Rustem Umerov.
Though mainstream media outlets continue to claim that this is ‘routine’ and normal following the installation of a new defense minister, something tells me it isn’t.
As I alluded to in my opening passage, this is completely routine—for failing regimes who know that their war effort is just about finished. It has happened time and time before and it will happen again.
The Associated Press confirmed: “Six Ukrainian deputy defense ministers have been fired following the dismissal two weeks ago of the defense minister in a corruption scandal.”

NEXTA, a popular Eastern European news outlet, provided more details: “The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has dismissed all deputy defense ministers and the state secretary of the ministry. Anna Malyar, the chief speaker of the department, was also dismissed.”

Reuters provided more coverage on the story:
The Ukrainska Pravda news site quoted unnamed government sources as saying all the deputy ministers had resigned voluntarily following a request by Umerov and would not be returning to their posts.
It said consultations were under way on candidates to replace them, and quoted a source close to the ministry as saying “a complete overhaul is underway” at the ministry.
One user known as Jellenne took the words right from my mouth: “They fired the head Defense Minister of Ukraine last week, and just now fired the next 6 Defense Ministers-reported on Warroom via Reuters. Oh yeah, this is going really well. Shut off the money.”

Washington Examiner provided the names of the former defense officials:
State Secretary for Defense Kostiantyn Vashchenko and deputy ministers Vitalii Deyneha and Denys Sharapov were also fired.
ADVERTISEMENTWhile no reason was given as to why senior officials were let go, the government has been actively investigating allegations of corruption, including the purchasing of equipment.
There is no word on who will replace the deputy ministers.
