WWE’s Bray Wyatt Cause of Death Disclosed

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) professional wrestler Windham Lawrence Rotunda, who performed under the ring name ‘Bray Wyatt,’ passed away “unexpectedly” last week.

WWE Wrestler Dies “Unexpectedly”

“Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time,” WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H said Thursday.

The latest reports disclosed that Wyatt died of a heart attack.

"A source tells PEOPLE the 36-year-old professional wrestler, whose real name was Windham Rotunda, died in his sleep last Thursday, and that he had seen a doctor earlier in the day for an ongoing heart condition," PEOPLE reports.

TMZ also reported Monday that Wyatt died in his sleep and that he was not wearing a doctor-recommended heart defibrillator at the time of his death. The device was reportedly found in Wyatt's car parked outside his home, according to the outlet.

Wyatt battled heart complications in the "weeks prior to his death," Daily Mail reports.

From Daily Mail:

According to police records, Wyatt told his fiancé, WWE ring announcer JoJo, that he was going to take a nap. However, she became worried after hearing his alarm going off for about an hour without him waking.

Upon going to check on him she then discovered his body turning blue as he was laying in bed. Bray was not breathing, prompting JoJo to call 911 as her mother attempted to CPR. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Wyatt's family members told officers he had developed heart complications that led to him having a 'weak lower part of his heart', after developing heart issues after catching COVID back in March of this year.

TMZ's report states that Wyatt had been hospitalized over an issue with his heart just a week before his death and during a follow-up appointment was advised by doctors to wear an external defibrillator. The device was designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

Although authorities stated it was uncertain whether the device would have saved Wyatt's life, they were able to determine that he was not wearing it at the time of his death after locating it inside of a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home.

"I was given permission to reveal that earlier this year Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) got COVID that exacerbated a heart issues. There was a lot of positive progress towards a return and his recovery. Unfortunately today he suffered a heart attack and passed away," Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com revealed.
