Starbucks To Pay $2.7m to Woman Who Claims to Have Been Fired For Being White

A Federal judge in New Jersey has ordered Starbucks to pay a fired former employee an extra $2.7 million in damages following a $25.6m reward following a wrongful termination suit.

In 2019, Shannon Philips, a former regional director for Starbucks sued the company claiming she was fired for being white.

After learning the details, that almost certainly is the case.

In April 2018, two black men, named Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson, got arrested after being accused of trespassing after they refused to make a purchase or leave the store.

They claimed to be waiting for a third person for a business meeting, as explained by CNN:

The two men were asked to exit the coffee shop after sitting at a table without ordering anything. The men, who declined to leave because they were waiting for a business associate, were escorted out of the coffee shop in handcuffs after a store manager called the police. They later reached settlement agreements with Starbucks and the City of Philadelphia.

Whether or not that was actually the case, Philips, the manager in question, had absolutely nothing to do with it.

The arrests were caught on video and protests followed shortly after.

Said protests were held to speak out against the so-called “racially charged” motive behind the arrest.

The thing is, the manager that WAS there at the time, was a black man, and yet he kept his job.

The New York Post goes into extra detail on this saying:

Starbucks “took steps to punish white employees who had not been involved in the arrests, but who worked in and around the city of Philadelphia, in an effort to convince the community that it had properly responded to the incident,” the complaint said.

It was later revealed during a six-day trial that another manager of the Philly store, who is black, kept his job — a move Phillips’ attorney, Laura Mattiacci, told jurors was because of his skin color.

It is pretty clear Philips was used as a scapegoat in response to nationwide boycotts and accusations of the coffee giant being “racist”.

Just goes to show how certain labels nowadays hold so much power in any situation, regardless of the actual facts.

This is why despite the original suit happening back in 2019, Philips receiving an extra $2.7m now is certainly noteworthy.

In today’s climate, especially in a liberal city like Philadelphia, it is surprising she even won the case in the first place.

If you remember a couple of months ago a pregnant woman, deemed the “City Bike Karen”, was put on leave following an altercation in New York City where social media went up into arms claiming she was trying to steal a bike from a group of black men.

As you all probably know, it turns out she had the receipts to prove the bike was in fact hers, and she was the actual victim.

I harp back on this situation because it relates exactly to the case of Shannon Philips.

With zero context of the situation, it was automatically considered a racial incident to the majority of those on the left as it confirmed their bias on race relations in America.

Who cares if a false story ruins somebodies life, as long as it fits the narrative right?
