I have said it before and I’ll say it again—the trend is directional. …It only goes one way.
Since the Biden regime took control, scores of Democrats have either announced that they are retiring or leaving the Democrat Party altogether. The same cannot be said of Republicans.
This shouldn’t come as news to anyone as the party becomes increasingly unhinged and drifts leftward. …
Now we are seeing reports that yet another high-profile Democrat is ‘strongly’ considering leaving the party and this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone either. …
Joe Manchin recently told the media that he has been thinking of leaving the Democrat Party for some time now. …
Axios said it all in this tweet: Joe Manchin says he’s “thinking seriously” about dropping his affiliation with the Democratic Party and becoming an independent. “The brand has become so bad.”

Forbes explained: “Sen. Joe Manchin said during a radio interview in West Virginia on Thursday that he’s been thinking about leaving the Democratic Party to become an independent “for quite some time,” the strongest statement the senator has made about a possible departure.”

Daily Caller reports that Manchin recently told the media:
“I’m thinking seriously,” Manchin responded. “I have to have peace of mind, basically. The brand has become so bad. The D brand and R brand … You’ve heard me say a million times, I am not a Washington Democrat.”
“I’ve been thinking about that for quite some time. I haven’t made any decisions whatsoever on any of my political direction.
I want to make sure that my voice is truly an independent voice,” he added.
“When I do speak, I want to be able to speak honestly about basically the extremes of the Democrat and Republican Party that’s harming our nation.”
Aaron Blake pointed out that Manchin has been flirting with leaving the Democrat Party since 2022 and provided a history of comments made by the representative.
Joe Manchin once flatly denied considering leaving the Dem Party.
But since late 2022, he's offered a succession of comments getting closer to it — rhetorically, at least.https://t.co/JUAJkYTZTd pic.twitter.com/B8Bkt7Kan3

However, Manchin’s voting record doesn’t deviate much from Biden’s agenda, according to RRH elections:
“Sen. Joe Manchin (D) votes with Joe Biden 88% of the time. By comparison Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) votes with Joe Biden 91% of the time. Seems like Sen. Joe Manchin flirts with becoming an “independent” every time he faces a WVSen election in his R+22 state.”

According to The Hill:
The senator’s flirtation with becoming an independent comes eight months after Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) announced her decision to leave the Democratic Party and register as an Independent.
Sinema said in December, “I’ve never fit neatly into any party box. I’ve never really tried. I don’t want to.”
