According to multiple sources, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the commander of the Wagner mercenary group, accused Russian state forces of firing on and killing scores of his men.

Prigozhin claims that the strike was in retaliation for comments he posted to a Telegram channel critical of the Russian leadership.

The leader of the Wagner military group then threatened to mobilize his troops against the Russian defense minister.

According to The Guardian:

Russia said it would prosecute mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin for alleged armed mutiny.

Russia’s FSB security service has urged Wagner Group fighters not to carry out criminal and traitorous orders at Prigozhin’s request and to take steps to apprehend him.

Local agencies carried a statement where the security service said the mercenary chief’s remarks amount to a call to start armed civil conflict in Russia.

CNN shared this quote from Yevgeny Prigozhin:

“The Chief of the General Staff has just given the order to raise the planes and open fire on the columns that are moving among civilian vehicles and trucks,” Prigozhin said.

“He doesn’t care who he kills. They have been killing their civilians for a year and a half instead of fighting the enemy.”
