AOC Flips Out Over Parody Account Mocking Her

If you haven’t seen the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez parody Twitter page, it’s a work of genius.

The page, with the Twitter handle @AOCpress, will make you think it’s AOC herself sending these idiotic tweets.

But that’s the brilliance of the page.

It’s difficult to distinguish the real AOC from the parody page.

AOC took to Twitter to warn her followers of the account.

“FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility. It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread. I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see,” AOC tweeted.

Hilariously, AOCpress tweeted the exact same thing.

The responses provided extra entertainment and humorous memes.

It appears AOC blocked the parody account.

AOCpress shared the block and tweeted: “I won.”

Here are some other hilarious tweets from AOCpress:

If you want to know why my account lost it’s blue check today, that’s easy – me and @elonmusk broke up. Thank God we made up and I got my blue check back within an hour. Big shout out to my Big E …I love you snookums.”

“I can’t believe people would think these parody tweets are from our office when they are clearly fake. Come on y’all you know I would never say something as stupid as that.”

“I’m having my staff report every single tweet that makes fun of me to the DOJ.”

“How will users be able to distinguish me from the parody now that they removed my blue check?”

“To conserve water and save the planet, I’m not going to bathe until 2027.”

“Having a blast celebrating the bipartisan debt deal at Kevin McCarthy’s house party tonight.”

“It’s time to ban all stoves, refrigerators, air conditioners, heaters, dishwashers, grills, washers & dryers and microwaves. If it saves just one life, it’ll be like literally worth it.”

“People don’t understand how much being a bartender helped me with economics. I used to take Debt Ceiling shots every night.”

“Imagine believing you know more about science than Greta Thunberg.”

That’s only scratching the surface to this brilliant parody page.

If you’re unable to tell the difference between the parody and AOC’s page, you’re forgiven!

Mainstream media outlets even reported on the account to ensure Twitter users it was a parody.

From Politico:

Musk had previously responded to the tweet from the fake account claiming to have a crush on him with a fire emoji.

As of Tuesday evening, the fake account had racked up more than 130,000 followers.

The account, showing the name “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody),” was “verified” with a blue check. The verification system used to be a form of authentication for Twitter accounts — in part, a way to prevent users from confusing the accounts of government officials or famous users with fakes. Under Musk, the site switched to a pay-to-verify system, allowing any user to subscribe and have a blue check attached to their profile.

Ocasio-Cortez’s real account has a gray check, the type of verification now attached to government officials.
