Disgraced GOP Lawmaker Ends Congressional Campaign

A disgraced GOP lawmaker has announced that he is ending his bid for an independent Congressional campaign.

George Santos was expelled from Congress last year following allegations of corruption.

The former GOP lawmaker caused quite a stir when he was expelled from DC politics and the Republican Party by proceeding to call out his colleagues.

In my opinion, the allegations against Santos aren’t unique, he isn’t the exception, he was the rule in Washington DC.

He was thrown out of Congress for doing the exact same things all the other DC politicians and bureaucrats do.

Does this mean I like Santos? Heck no! He is shady, and his character is questionable at best. If you don’t believe me, take a look at one of his latest videos below and you’ll see what I am talking about.

On Tuesday, the disgraced former lawmaker announced: “I have decided to withdraw from my independent run for NY District 1.

I don’t want my run to be portrayed as reprisal against Nick Lalota… Although Nick and I don’t have the same voting record and I remain critical of his abysmal record, I don’t want to split the ticket and be responsible for handing the house to Dems.

It is clear that with the rise of antisemitism in our country we cannot afford to hand the house to Dems as they have a very large issue with antisemitism in their ranks.

Staying in this race all but guarantees a victory for the Dems in the race.

I have met with leaders and with constituents and I have made the decision to hang it up here and stop perusing this race, THIS YEAR!

The future holds countless possibilities and I am ready willing and able to step up to the plate and go fight for my country at anytime.

I will continue to participate in the public policy discussion and will do my part… I will always strive to stand on the right side of history. It’s only goodbye for now, I’ll be back.”

The Associated Press confirmed that Santos’ campaign failed to raise any campaign funds:

The announcement came after the disgraced former congressman’s campaign committee reported no fundraising or expenditures in March, raising speculation that his campaign had failed to get off the ground.

Dr. Phil shared a portion of his exclusive interview with Santos and will be airing the interview soon on his new syndicated program “Dr. Phil Primetime.”

The New York Post provided the background context for Santos’ 2023 ouster:

Santos, elected in 2022 to represent parts of Nassau County and Queens, became just the sixth House member — and first Republican — to be expelled from the chamber on Dec. 1 following the release of a scathing ethics report that found he used campaign funds for personal splurges, including X-rated OnlyFans subscriptions, Botox injections and lavish trips.
