Rep. Cory Mills Under Investigation For Alleged Assault


Rep. Cory Mills (R-FLA) is under investigation over an alleged assault that occurred at a D.C. apartment last week.

The Metropolitan Police Department, in a statement, shared, “Officers were called to the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue, Southwest, around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday for the report of an assault.”

A spokesperson for the MPD shared Mills is the subject of the investigation.

A spokesperson for Mills shared, “This week, law enforcement was asked to resolve a private matter at Congressman Mills’ residence.”

“Congressman Mills vehemently denies any wrongdoing whatsoever, and is confident any investigation will clear this matter quickly,” added the spokesperson.

Washington, D.C., police said they are investigating Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., over a report of an alleged assault at an apartment building this week.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police Department said officers “were called to the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue, Southwest around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday for the report of an assault,” adding that an “active criminal investigation” is underway.

A spokesperson for MPD confirmed to NBC News that Mills is the subject of the investigation. The spokesperson added that Mills had not been arrested and that no charges had been filed against him.

According to a statement from his spokesperson, Mills denied wrongdoing.

The Washington Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it was called to the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue, Southwest, at around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday for the report of an assault. The incident is understood to have taken place inside his residence.

The MPD said it is conducting an active criminal investigation and did not provide any further details about the incident.

A spokesperson for Mills, a highly decorated former Army combat veteran and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Intelligence, released a statement to Fox News Digital stating that the Congressman denies any wrongdoing.
