Luigi Mangione Thanks Supporters As CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Faces Backlash For Promoting His Defense Fund

“Eat-the-rich” leftists found a new hero in the wake of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s murder in November.

Luigi Mangione was arrested and charged with the crime, though he wasn’t seen as the villain of the story by many Americans.

A slew of social media users were eager to excuse his alleged behavior either due to his perceived good looks, their own disillusionment regarding the health insurance industry, or a combination of both.

And prominent CNN personality Kaitlan Collins was caught up in all this week when she decided to share a link to a website created by Mangione’s defense attorneys, as Breitbart reported:

Although the immediate and online backlash apparently forced her to delete the xweet, and although she is on the White House beat and not the Luigi Mangione beat, Collins still xweeted this on Saturday: “Luigi Mangione’s legal defense team has launched a new website today.” She then added a link to the site, which is basically a fundraising site for Mangione’s defense.

Before we go any further, allow me to be 100 percent clear about something… Like any criminal defendant, including those charged with the most evil of crimes, Mangione deserves the best defense available. When someone is charged with a crime, it is you against the power of the State, and the State has unlimited resources, its own agenda, and is frequently corrupt (everyone should watch this). Mangione’s defense team is doing the Lord’s work. They are doing what they are supposed to do and what every one of us would want done if we were charged with a crime. This is not about that. If Mangione is guilty and goes free, that price is worth the cost of the greatest legal system in the world — one that does everything possible to protect the innocent from unjust imprisonment.

None of that, however, mitigates a CNN anchor with access to the White House promoting a GiveSendGo link that aids and abets the credibly accused left-wing political assassin of a CEO. This is especially troubling at a time when Democrats are openly promoting violence (on CNN) aimed at another CEO, Elon Musk. Outlets such as CNN are desperate to turn

CEO Musk into a supervillain, going so far as to lie about him hurling a Nazi salute.

Collins’ post drew an array of social media rebukes:

Although he didn’t mention anyone at CNN by name, Mangione did recently issue his first public statement since being locked up, as People reported:

In a first public statement shared on a new website set up by his legal defense team on Friday, Feb. 14, Mangione, 26, wrote, “I am overwhelmed by — and grateful for — everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support.”

“Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions, as mail has flooded MDC [the Metropolitan Detention Center, where he is currently behind bars] from across the country, and around the globe,” he continued.

“While it is impossible for me to reply to most letters, please know that I read every one that I receive,” added Mangione. “Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future.”
