After a humiliating Election Day loss to President Donald Trump in November, Kamala Harris has largely retreated from the public eye.
She re-emerged recently, however, at a performance of “A Wonderful World” on Broadway.
Instead of scoring some positive publicity on social media and from the legacy press, however, her remarks to the cast soon devolved into the sort of incomprehensible word salad voters heard repeatedly from her on the campaign trail.

As the New York Post reported:
She later added to nods from the cast and her husband: “We have to be clear-eyed. And it doesn’t mean we don’t see the beauty in everything. These things all co-exist, but I believe we fight for something, not against something.”
Detractors swiftly mocked Harris for her wordy, roundabout way of delivering a message.
“Kamala Harris hit Broadway and, of course, served up her signature word salad. A friendly reminder of what we dodged in the White House,” one person wrote alongside a clip of the speech.
ADVERTISEMENTAnother chimed in: “Literally, the only thing worse than listening to this gobbledygook, is the folks around her nodding and clapping, as if she made sense.”
“How are they not all rolling their eyes at her inane chatter?!” a third questioned.
Another commentator compared her words to speaking with a drunken relative, writing, “Drunk auntie and her entourage of people that get paid to go ‘Mmmm.’”
Harris’ penchant for using strange colloquialisms and going off on tangents became a running joke during her term as vice president and throughout her ill-fated White House bid:

That notorious behavior was a common thread in the responses to her latest remarks:

Fox News also covered the response to her comments:
Harris was mocked online for her remarks, with some comparing her to someone under the influence of alcohol.

She was similarly ridiculed after leaving office when she spoke to firefighters in California as they were battling wildfires in Los Angeles.
“As I said to these courageous and extraordinary firefighters, you know moments of crisis really do reveal the heroes among us,” she said. “We went and visited World Central Kitchen. I mean, the volunteers who were there, some of them who lost their own homes, are there doing the work of taking care of perfect strangers, who, in the face of that stranger, they see a neighbor.”
As vice president, Harris once said: “I grew up understanding the children of the community are the children of the community.”
Since leaving the White House, Harris has dodged questions about her political future, amid rumors she may be considering a run to become governor of California.
