A video that has gone viral shows a humpback whale swallowing a kayaker only to spit him out later.
Adrián Simancas was kayaking in the Strait of Magellan when a humpback made its way to the waters’ surface and swallowed Simancas.
The whale then began to make its way underneath the water, but luckily for Simancas, it spit him out seconds later.

A humpback whale swallowed a man on a kayak off the coast of Chile last week, before he was quickly able to get out of the leviathan’s mouth unharmed.
ADVERTISEMENTVideo shows the death-defying and terrifying moment from last Saturday, when Adrián Simancas was kayaking with his father, Dell, in Bahía El Águila near the San Isidro Lighthouse in the Strait of Magellan, off Chilean Patagonia.
As Simancas was paddling in what appeared to be an inflatable kayak, a humpback whale rolled on the surface with its mouth open, swallowing the kayaker.
Moments later, the tail broke the surface and the whale dove to deeper depth. Simancas and his yellow kayak then resurfaced after being freed from the clutches of the whale’s jaws.

A terrifying moment, captured on camera by the kayaker’s father, showed the whale surfacing in the Strait of Magellan and gulping Adrian Simancas for a few moments before releasing him.
In the video, verified by CNN, Adrian’s father, Dell, is heard yelling to his son, who had been spat out of the whale, to “grab the boat.” Adrian then swims towards his dad’s pack raft and holds onto it as they pull away.
“I thought it swallowed me,” Adrian said in the video.
Speaking to CNN en Español, Adrian explained what it felt like to be briefly engulfed by a humpback whale.
