House Republican Calls To Censure Democratic Colleague For “Actual Weapons” Comment Regarding Elon Musk

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) called to censure Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) after he said “actual weapons” must be used against Elon Musk.

“He’s also harming the American public in an enormous way. And what I think is very important, and what the American public want, is for us to bring actual weapons to this barfight,” Garcia said.

“This is an actual fight,” he added.

Per Fox News:

Some congressional Democrats have been using increasingly violent rhetoric to protest President Donald Trump and Musk.

During a Baltimore rally on Monday, Maryland Democratic Rep. Kweisi Mfume pushed the idea of a “street fight” against DOGE.

“This will be a congressional fight, a constitutional fight, a legal fight, and on days like this a street fight, yes we will stand,” Mfume said.

In January, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., also called for Democrats to fight Trump’s agenda “in the streets.”

“Right now, we’re going to keep focus on the need to look out for everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans who are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that is trying to cut taxes for billionaires, donors, and wealthy corporations and then stick New Yorkers and working-class Americans across the country with the bill,” Jeffries said. “That’s not acceptable. We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. We’re going to fight it in the streets.”

“The Left is running like roaches with the light on over @DOGE. @RepRobertGarcia went far beyond the pale last night, calling for weapons to be used against @ElonMusk. This won’t be ignored. We’re making an example out of him,” Mace said Thursday.

“Imagine if a Republican said this?” Mace questioned.

“Calling out the Left’s hypocrisy one lie at a time,” she added.

From The National News Desk:

Attached to the post is a measure to censure Rep. Garcia. That measure argues Rep. Garcia’s comment was inciting violence against government employees.

“Oh @RepNancyMace, have you never heard of a figure of speech?” Rep. Garcia fired back via X. “And ironic coming from you, considering you asked @RepJasmine to ‘take it outside’ during a hearing last month. Violence is never the answer.”

A censure is a rare form of public humiliation in which the House speaker reads a resolution out loud expressing profound disproval of a representative, who must stand and listen, for misconduct. It is not as severe as expulsion, but can have a “powerful psychological effect” on its subject, the Senate website says.
