GOP Congressman Circulates Petition To “Arrest And Deport” Rep. Ilhan Omar, Report Claims

According to Axios, a House Republican is circulating a petition calling for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to be arrested and deported.

“Friend, we should have never let Ilhan Omar into our country. And frankly, America would be a much better place if she were to be sent back to Somalia,” according to a copy of the email shared by Axios.

“Recently, it came out that Ilhan Omar is hosting free workshops for Somalians, who are in our country illegally, on how to evade ICE and deportation. It could not be more blatant: Ilhan Omar is more loyal to illegal Somalians than she is to the United States, or the office she was elected to. It is an absolute disgrace,” the email continues.

“A sitting Member of Congress is facilitating a full-scale invasion of our country…A normal society would refer to that as treason…But regardless of labels, one thing is clear: The time has come to arrest and deport Ilhan Omar,” it added.

“America would be a better place if @IlhanMN were deported back to Somalia,” Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) said last week.

“We should have never let Ilhan Omar into our country,” he said in another post.

“Ilhan Omar was advising illegal aliens, Somalis, on how to evade ICE detection. That is as UN-American as you can possibly get,” Gill told CNN.

Axios reports:

Gill homed in last week on a video of Omar advising Somalis in her district that they are “not obligated” to answer questions from ICE and urging them to “learn the laws and prepare yourself.”

Gill’s fundraising email on Tuesday accused Omar of “facilitating a full-scale invasion of our country,” adding, “A normal society would refer to that as treason…”

A spokesperson for Gill did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“It is truly disgusting that members of the Republican party feel emboldened to engage in racist and quite frankly fascist remarks,” Omar said in a statement.

Omar came to the U.S. as a refugee during the Somali Civil War in 1995 and became a U.S. citizen in 2000.

“I have had my fill of foreigners storming our border, complaining about and disparaging our country, and then helping more and more of them invade our lands… And I know the American people are too,” the copy of the email shared by Axios continued.

“If you’re as sick and tired of it as I am, sign my petition and let’s send her back to Somalia where she belongs,” it added.

From the New York Post:

The Democrat’s immigrant background has long been seized on by her critics and made her the subject of numerous headlines — including a Daily Mail report that she allegedly married her second husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen rumored to be her brother, just so he could obtain a green card.

Omar has previously dismissed the brother-marrying claims, which were at one point probed by the FBI, as “disgusting lies.”

Meanwhile, elsewhere in his fundraising email, Gill — a first-term House Republican who reps Texas’s 26th Congressional District, which includes some northern suburbs in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex — also accused Omar of “facilitating a full-scale invasion of our country.”
