A bomb squad was called to the San Diego International Airport after construction workers discovered a grenade.
The construction discovered an “inert grenade” near Terminal 1 at the San Diego International Airport.
San Diego’s Metro Arson Strike Team was able to obtain the grenade safely and is now investigating how the grenade got there.

In a surprising discovery, construction workers at San Diego International Airport unearthed what they believe to be “an old, inert hand grenade” in the area of Terminal 1, a spokesperson for the Port of San Diego confirmed Thursday afternoon.
Harbor Police K9 Units responded to the scene, along with San Diego Fire-Rescue’s Bomb Squad.
According to the spokesperson, traffic to Terminal 1 was reduced to one lane while authorities were on scene while operations at the airport continued as normal.
ADVERTISEMENTThe city’s Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) took possession of the device without incident, the spokesperson added. The scene was cleared by 1:30 p.m.
