JUST IN: President Trump Does NOT See JD Vance As His Successor

President Trump dropped a little bomb during his Super Bowl interview with Bret Baier that not a lot of people picked up on.

Baier asked him if he views JD Vance as his successor, and Trump said “No”.

Watch here:

Now hang on, because that’s not the full story.

Let me give you the full story and then tell you what I think is going on here.

President Trump DID say “no” pretty quickly and it was without caveat or condition, it was just a flat “no”.

But then after a pause he did add that JD is very capable and he’s doing a great job, it’s just too early.

So….what’s going on here?

I think it’s probably a mix of several things.

One, I think President Trump is not thinking at all about being out of office.  He’s living in the moment and focusing on what he needs to do right now, and I think “no” is accurate because he hasn’t mentally thought of ANYONE as being his successor.  If you know President Trump, you know that’s not something he would spend mental head space on right now.

Second, I think he is very honest to say it’s just too soon.

JD had been incredible, perhaps the best and most capable Vice President I have ever seen, I can’t think of anyone even remotely close.

But it’s still early.

A lot can happen between now and 4 years from now, and President Trump knows it’s simply too early to offer any endorsement.  The time is not right.

Third, well….I think President Trump has not fully ruled out a third term.

And spoiler alert: I don’t think it’s crazy either!

He’s been joking and hinting about it for a long time.

This is from 2019:

This is from very recently:

But here’s the deal….it’s not crazy.

FDR was elected to FOUR terms and that was only 90 years ago.

Our Founding Fathers did NOT write a two term limit into the Constitution, that was added much, much later in 1951 by the 22nd Amendment.

So anyone who is acting like this is Gospel written in stone is not being intellectually honest.

Don’t forget what Kim Clement said too:

TRUMP2028? Remember When Kim Clement Said President Trump Will Get TWO MORE Terms? WOW!

Now….how could it work?

And how could we do it safely?

There’s already a very solid plan:

House Republican Proposes VERY INTERESTING LANGUAGE To Amend The 22nd Amendment To Allow President Trump To Serve a Third Term

House Republican Proposes VERY INTERESTING LANGUAGE To Amend The 22nd Amendment To Allow President Trump To Serve a Third Term

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) introduced a resolution that would allow President Trump to seek a third term.

“I just introduced a resolution to amend the 22nd Amendment to allow President Trump to seek a third term,” Ogles wrote.

The language of the proposed amendment reads:

‘‘No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.’’

“President Trump’s decisive leadership stands in stark contrast to the chaos, suffering, and economic decline Americans have endured over the past four years. He has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal. To that end, I am proposing an amendment to the Constitution to revise the limitations imposed by the 22nd Amendment on presidential terms. This amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring that we can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs,” Ogles said.

“It is imperative that we provide President Trump with every resource necessary to correct the disastrous course set by the Biden administration. President Trump has shown time and time again that his loyalty lies with the American people and our great nation above all else. He is dedicated to restoring the republic and saving our country, and we, as legislators and as states, must do everything in our power to support him,” he added.

The Hill reports:

Trump floated the prospect of running for a third term in a joke to House GOP lawmakers during a meeting in Washington before the conference had internal leadership elections.

“I suspect I won’t be running again, unless you do something,” Trump said a week after winning the 2024 presidential election, The Hill reported. “Unless you say, ‘He’s so good, we have to just figure it out.’”

Following the meeting, House Republicans told reporters that the remarks were not serious and that they laughed when they heard them.

“In just a few short days, President Trump has already taken action to undo the catastrophic policies of the Biden Administration and put the United States back on the path to strength and prosperity. He has tackled the crisis at our Southern border by declaring a national emergency, deploying additional troops and resources to curb illegal crossings, and expediting the completion of the border wall. In a similar vein, he issued an order to end birthright citizenship for children born in the United States to illegal aliens. Placing American safety as his top priority, President Trump designated Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations, empowering law enforcement to dismantle these violent networks with greater force. Aside from the border, he has set American energy free by declaring a national emergency to lift the Biden Administration’s oil and gas drilling restrictions. President Trump has also broken the chains of DEI by eliminating federal programs and reaffirming legally that there are only two genders, male and female. He has also initiated the process to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization, a decision I am personally very excited about following the Biden Administration’s disastrous COVID pandemic response,” Ogles added.

The language is very carefully and artfully crafted.

Did you catch that?

Per Newsweek:

The language specifies preventing a president running for a third term if they were elected for two consecutive terms, precluding any of President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush or President Barack Obama from seeking a third term were the amendment to occur.

The amendment would therefore singularly benefit either Trump, who is serving his second of two non-consecutive terms, or Vice President JD Vance, who ranks first in the presidential line of succession.
