RFK Jr. Reports Up To $1.2M In Credit Card Debt

A very strange story is suddenly going viral right now, and we have to talk about it.

Before we get into the facts, I just want to say something in my gut doesn’t feel right about this.

RFK Jr. appears headed toward confirmation as the new Director of HHS, but the Deep State hates him and wants to stop him.

They just can’t figure out how so far, and then suddenly this story pops up?

Hmmm, color me skeptical, but let’s discuss it anyway so you know what’s happening.

According to CNBC, RFK Jr. has (or had?) $1.2 million in credit card debt:

Say what now?

That is insane!

I don’t how how big of a baller you are or how much money you have, carrying $1.2 million on a credit card balance at 20%+ interest is insane.

And….I believe that’s exactly why this story is running right now, to try and prove he is not good with money and cannot be trusted to run a department of the Government.

We’re going to break it all down, including what I suspect is happening, in just a moment, but first here is more from CNBC:

Americans’ credit card balances soared to a record $1.17 trillion in 2024 — and even the wealthy are not immune from carrying these balances.

One example is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who recently revealed in financial disclosures that he was carrying up to $1.2 million in credit card debt. Kennedy is President Donald Trump’s nominee for Health and Human Services secretary.

Kennedy’s credit card balances range between $610,000 and $1.2 million in accounts that carry interest rates of 23.24% to 23.49%, the filing shows.

Financial experts interviewed by CNBC said balances that high are unusual.

“That’s a truly massive amount of credit card debt,” said Ted Rossman, senior industry analyst at Bankrate.

“He has a lot of income, so I don’t even know why you’d have all that debt if you have that much income,” said Carolyn McClanahan, a certified financial planner and founder of Life Planning Partners, who reviewed Kennedy’s filing.

Kennedy was not immediately available for comment.

For all consumers — from the ultra-wealthy like Kennedy with an estimated $30 million net worth, to lower earning households — experts say it’s best to stay away from ongoing credit card debt.

Ok, so now let’s break it all down….what in the world is going on here?

I have several thoughts, first is the use of the word “had”.   That jumped out at me like a sore thumb.

They’re not claiming he has those balances now, but that he had them in the past, when the disclosure was filed.

Ok, interesting.

ABC News reports that this disclosure was from December 2024:

Credit card debt potentially doubled in 6 months
Kennedy’s credit card debt potentially doubled in just six months, a comparison of his liabilities in his new disclosure filing and his disclosure from last year suggest.

In July 2024, Kennedy, as a presidential candidate, disclosed having credit card debts to American Express worth $360,004 to $715,000, at roughly 23% revolving interest rate.

In his latest disclosure submitted in late December 2024 and publicly released today, Kennedy’s American Express debts snowballed into between $610,000 and $1.2 million.

It’s unclear how much, exactly, his credit card debt increased in the past few months because liabilities are reported in ranges, but the latest disclosure shows his debts have potentially grown exponentially.

My next thoughts are were these one-time expenses?

Or in some way reimbursable campaign expenses?

You know, perhaps things like private air travel or other expenses that for some reason he paid personally and then will be reimbursed?

That seems more plausible than just racking up $1.2 million in credit card fees.

I know we all feel like it’s easy to spend money, but outside of big purchases like cars, air travel, etc., it’s actually not super easy to spend $1.2 million on a credit card in a month.  I know that sounds hard to believe, but it would be quite difficult.

So my gut tells me there’s something else going on here.

Perhaps even something normal for someone in RFK Jr.’s situation, but something the MSM is glomming on to in order to try and make him look bad an unfit for the job.

Another thought I had was did the filing actually say “credit card debt” or did it say something like “revolving credit lines” or “short term debt” or something like that?

My thought process is, is this category perhaps described in a way that makes you think credit cards but could in fact encompass some other type of expense?  Again, something related to his Presidential Campaign or after that related to all his work campaigning for President Trump?

That’s what I think is going on here.

I don’t think this is RFK Jr. spending $1.2 million filling up his gas tank, buying clothes and going out to dinner.  That’s nonsense.

But that’s just my opinion, I want to hear what you think!
