Inspired by attending the inauguration of President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, the half-brother of Vance has decided to run for political office.
Cory Bowman, a pastor and registered Republican, will run for mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio.

“There’s nobody that cheered louder when he was getting sworn in than me, because he’s my brother,” Bowman told The Cincinnati Enquirer.
He called Vance his role model.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports:
Bowman said he spoke to Vance, who is his older half-brother, in the “initial stages” about running for mayor. He said his brother has inspired him and that they have a friendly sibling rivalry.
ADVERTISEMENT“I don’t necessarily speak for my brother because he speaks pretty well for himself. And he’s doing well,” he said. “I will say that he’s an incredible role model of mine.”
Bowman said he’s running to give Cincinnati voters a choice for mayor. Eight people have pulled petitions to run for mayor, with none of them − including Democratic Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval − turning in the needed 500 signatures yet. The deadline to turn in the required signatures is Feb. 20.
Pureval, who is finishing his first term as mayor, told The Enquirer he is running again and has begun hosting fundraisers.
The mayoral race is a non-partisan field race with the top two vote-getters emerging from a primary. If fewer than three people run, there won’t be a primary.
According to the outlet, Bowman is a resident of the College Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati and pastor of The River Church in the West End.
The mayor’s race for Cincinnati hasn’t featured a Republican candidate since 2009, The Cincinnati Enquirer noted.

From the New York Post:
The 36-year-old, who lives in Cincinnati with his wife and their three young kids, announced in a social media post that he had already pulled petitions to run.
“Weeks ago, my flight touched down at CVG [airport], returning home from the most monumental inauguration in my generation. When I landed, I knew the city where my family and I live and love cannot fall behind in the critical years ahead,” Bowman said in a statement.
ADVERTISEMENT“Many have told me ‘Get ready. They will come after you.’ I’m not sure who ‘they’ are or if ‘they’ are seeing this, but my heart is simply this … To provide a choice to the people of Cincinnati. A choice to see years of prosperity, growth, and joy in our amazing downtown.”
He added: “A population should never be complacent with how things are. They should have the choice to decide their own future.”
Bowman, who shares the same father as the vice president, said he spoke to his older half-sibling in the “initial stages” about running for the city’s highest position.
