Republicans are celebrating the confirmation, seeing Vought as a key player who will work in tangent with Elon Musk and DOGE to cut the pork and drain the swamp!

Speaker Johnson congratulated Vought, calling him a “conservative force against the radical left”:
Congratulations to @russvought for being confirmed as Director of OMB.
Russ is a conservative force against the radical left and the Washington establishment.
With his help, we’ll restore fiscal sanity to our budgets and dismantle the regulatory state.— Speaker Mike Johnson (@SpeakerJohnson) February 7, 2025
On the other hand, Democrats had been fighting tooth and nail to prevent the confirmation of Russ Vought, who helped author the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 and has been a vocal critic of the 2020 election.
They staged a 30-hour overnight filibuster to oppose his “dangerous” nomination.
BREAKING: Russell Vought has been CONFIRMED as OMB Director!
This is OUTSTANDING!
The Democrats tried to filibuster this for over 30 hours because they know Russ will absolutely DEMOLISH the bureaucratic regime in DC.

Fox News reported:
Despite Democratic tactics to delay the confirmation vote, the Senate confirmed Russell Vought to lead the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Republicans backed Vought’s nomination, arguing he proved a qualified candidate for the role since he previously held the position during President Donald Trump’s first term. Democrats, however, raised multiple concerns about his nomination and said his views on the Impoundment Control Act, which reinforces that Congress holds the power of the purse, disqualified him from the role.
Democrats held a 30-hour-long protest against Vought’s nomination, delivering speeches in the middle of the night on Wednesday in an attempt to delay the confirmation vote.
The Senate, in a chaotic final floor vote on Thursday evening, voted to confirm Vought to lead the OMB, 53 to 47.
Democratic senators repeatedly injected themselves during the confirmation vote, protesting the nomination until the last second.
“No debate is permitted during a vote,” Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Fla., told the lawmakers.
The OMB is responsible for developing and executing the president’s budget, as well as overseeing and coordinating legislative proposals and priorities aligned with the executive branch.

Many Democrat Senators, like Pat Murray, have labeled Vought an “extremist” and are not too happy about his confirmation:
Senate Republicans just confirmed Russ Vought to manage our nation's budget.
Vought is an extremist who has made clear he'll ignore our nation's laws, cut funding that helps people across the country & give Trump unprecedented & unconstitutional power. There will be…

During the vote roll call, Elizabeth Warren even broke the rules that prohibit talking during a vote.
Warren stood up and shouted until she was told to shut up and sit down…
Watch that clip right here:
BRUTAL!! Elizabeth Warren started SCREAMING on the Senate floor to oppose Russ Vought's confirmation & got shut down right away.
Warren: "BLAH BLAH BLAH."
Chair: "No debate is permitted during a vote, the Senator WILL SUSPEND
Warren: Sits back down in shame.
How does… pic.twitter.com/cN6Bnm9Byw

Other Democrats also ignored the rules, speaking out against Trump’s pick as the Senate voted on his confirmation.
From NBC News:
The Senate voted along party lines Thursday to confirm Russell Vought as the next head of the Office of Management and Budget despite fierce pushback from Democrats.
Although Democrats have been divided over various Trump nominees, they unified in opposition to Vought.
Democrats see Vought as the embodiment of a Trump agenda that they want to build their opposition message around — from his long-standing ties to Project 2025 to his support for slashing spending programs that benefit the middle class to his election denial.
But with just 47 Democratic votes in the Senate compared with Republicans’ 53-seat majority, there was little Democrats could do to prevent Vought’s nomination from sailing through to confirmation.
Still, Democrats spoke out against Vought when their names were called during the roll call vote. Delivering speeches during votes is against Senate rules, which Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Fla., who was presiding over the Senate at the time, reiterated as each Democrat tried to speak.
Many Democrats said during the vote that they spoke “on behalf of” first responders, federal workers and other groups in voting against Vought’s confirmation.
“I vote against creepy billionaire influence,” Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., said when he cast his vote.
Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., said on X after the vote that Vought was “an extremist who has made clear he’ll ignore our nation’s laws, cut funding that helps people across the country & give Trump unprecedented & unconstitutional power.”
“There will be consequences,” she added.
Democrats kept the Senate in session overnight into Thursday morning to make their case against Vought after he moved forward on a party-line vote of 53-47 on Wednesday. He was confirmed by the same vote Thursday.
