When Elon Musk’s DOGE team gained access to the payment system inside the Department of the Treasury, something snapped.
I think it was the final straw somewhere inside the brain of every democrat in Congress, panicking over the possible ramifications of ‘disclosure’.
Not the sort of disclosure that involves little green men, but the greenbacks that are the tell-tale signs of government corruption.
The democrats in Congress are simply losing their mind knowing that President Trump’s trusted advisor, Elon Musk, is digging through the dank recesses of government spending — and making changes.
And today, democrats on the House Oversight Committee set up a little media stunt, intending to drum up support for their fight against DOGE, Musk, and ultimately President Trump.
It failed — but it was hilarious nonetheless.
Here’s what happened. The democrats on the committee, knowing the Republicans would block their motion, attempted to issue a subpoena to force Elon Musk to come testify before the committee.
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) moved to subpoena Elon.
NEW: I just moved to subpoena Elon Musk to appear before the Oversight Committee to answer for his unlawful takeover of agencies across the government.
Republicans blocked my motion without allowing any debate.
They will stop at nothing to cover up Elon Musk's lawlessness.

Here’s the video of the motion, and the ensuing actions:

Before we go any farther, can we agree that it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for the House Oversight Committee to have Elon Musk come testify to them about what his DOGE team has been up to?
Just imagining that discourse… there may be a reason Elon wasn’t brought before them.
Because it certainly wasn’t because the Republicans blocked their subpoena power.
For one thing, I have a feeling Elon Musk would have gladly come down to have a chitchat with the House Oversight Committee, had they asked.
And apparently, that’s all they would have had to do — because according to Rep. James Comer who chairs the Committee, the democrats had the chance to invite a speaker to today’s meeting.
They brought a college professor, as they usually do, rather than extend an invite to Elon Musk.
🚨FAKE NEWS ALERT🚨
Oversight Democrats COULD HAVE invited Elon Musk for their witness slot.
Instead, they invited a college professor and then called for a performative vote in the middle of the hearing. 🤡 https://t.co/7kQUzpuKXV pic.twitter.com/BtWJFnwHZn

It strikes me that maybe… just possibly… those democrats on the House Oversight Committee didn’t really want to put Elon Musk in the spotlight, as much as they let on.
And what we saw was nothing but theatrics — because that’s all the democrats could muster short of inviting Elon Musk to come talk to them.
Which may have been the very last thing they actually wanted to have happen.

The fact that President Trump is doing exactly what he said he was going to do, with well-laid plans designed to waste no time and even less money, is absolutely driving Congressional democrats crazy.
And the fact that he’s using Elon Musk to do it… is beyond their ability to cope, according to a report in The Hill:
Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee quickly quashed an effort by Democrats to subpoena Elon Musk to appear before the panel to answer questions about a series of actions impacting federal agencies and their workforce.
In recent weeks Musk, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) leader, has sent staff to a suite of agencies and tapped into databases at the Office of Personnel Management and the Treasury Department.
ADVERTISEMENTSimilar actions have taken place at the U.S. Agency for International Development where employees have been shut out of their email and told not to show up to the office.
He was also the brainchild behind a new federal government program offering buyouts to federal employees: eight months of pay and benefits to entice workers to leave their jobs.
Here’s another angle of the chaos that erupted in the House Oversight Committee, and you can hear a little more of the details of the back and forth.

I wouldn’t generally rely on an ABC News report for anything in depth of a political nature — except when it is nearly as funny to listen to the incredulous tone of the ABC reporters covering the story as it is to hear House democrats melt down.
Check out this story that covered the incident today in the House, with the reporters legitimately confused by the fact that President Trump is able to do what he is doing — with no one presumably able to stop him.
The fact is, President Trump is the head of the Executive Branch. And while he has limited power — as do all branches of our Constitutional Republic — he is the Executive.
And by definition, the Executive exerts a certain degree of operational control over these agencies — executive agencies and non executive agencies created by Congress.
From a purely Constitutional standpoint, the argument could be made that these regulatory agencies are not truly Constitutional in nature, because they either cause the forfeiture of responsibility and authority that the Constitution clearly places with Congress…
Or they usurp responsibilities — and therefore authorities — which should reside with the States of the People by essence of the fact that the Constitution doesn’t expressly grant those powers to the federal government, or any branch of it.
All that to say… we have a double-edged sword scenario in many of these instances.
Who is actually in charge of such and such agency or department?
Many times, the fact is that the department or agency shouldn’t exist to begin with. But since Congress took it upon themselves to do so… they also have to live with the fact that the Executive Branch rules over those agencies more often than not — at least more than any other branch.
It is, after all, the “Executive” branch.
That’s why at the end of the day, though I love the exploding heads caused by the diligent hunt for waste, fraud, and government corruption…
What I’m really looking forward to is the abolishment of agencies and departments that don’t fit the mold of our Constitutional Republic to begin with, and the resurgence of the individual, the local community, and the nation as a whole in terms of prosperity and capacity for self-government — as the founders intended.
I don’t want to “fix” the broken system.
I want to REPLACE it with the SIMPLE system that it was designed to be.
We make American ‘Great Again’… when we uphold the responsibilities, duties, and rights of the INDIVIDUALS, again.
And I think… that’s exactly the path we’re on. Time will tell.
