ALL USAID Overseas Operations To Be Shut Down By Friday

The dismantling continues…

President Trump’s administration has ordered USAID to cease all foreign missions by this Friday.

This includes over 60 missions to the tune of over $40 BILLION in aid to nations like Ukraine, Ethiopia, and Jordan.

Nearly all of the thousands of USAID employees will be placed on administrative leave.

CBS News reported:

Nearly all staff for the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, will be placed on leave Friday night, the agency announced on its website Tuesday night. Earlier in the day, all overseas missions for USAID had been ordered to shut down, and all staff recalled by Friday, multiple sources confirmed to CBS News.

The statement notes that all “direct-hire personnel” will be placed on leave with exceptions for those on “mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs.” Those considered exceptions will be notified by USAID leadership by 3 p.m. ET Thursday, and further guidance on how to request an exception will be forthcoming, the email said.

The statement notes the agency is developing a plan with the State Department to arrange and pay for return travel within 30 days for USAID personnel posted outside the U.S. The email states PSC (personal service contractor) contracts and ISC (independent service contractor) contracts “that are determined to be inessential will be terminated.”

It also says they will consider “case-by-case” exceptions and return travel extensions based on “personal or family hardship, mobility, or safety concerns.”

Daily Mail added:

The United States Agency for International Development has been ordered to shut down by Friday following Elon Musk’s effort to dismantle the government relief service he labeled a ‘criminal organization.’

The State Department is now working diligently to recall thousands of staff members in more than 100 countries across the world, two sources familiar with the discussions told Reuters.

The employees were told by Peter Marocco, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, that all USAID staff members and their families should be recalled back to the United States by Friday – though that deadline could be delayed.

If the State Department failed to bring home the foreign employees, the staff would be evacuated by the US military, according to CBS News.

USAID employees in many bureaus at the agency’s headquarters in Washington DC also received a memo that they are being placed on administrative leave, according to PBS NewsHour correspondent Lisa Desjardins.

It said they must be available to report to work ‘if directed to do so,’ and must be available by phone and email during normal business hours.

But they are ‘not to enter USAID premises, access USAID systems or attempt to use your position or authority with USAID in any way without my prior permission or prior permission of a supervisor in your chain of command,’ wrote Marocco, the newly-appointed deputy administrator for the agency.
