Egg Truck Crashes On Highway

A truck transporting eggs crashed on a freeway in Los Angeles on Monday, creating a mess during the morning commute.

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. when the big rig appeared to clip an overpass.

According to KTLA, it appeared the company was called “Good Eggs.”

KTLA reports:

A SigAlert was issued as crews worked to clear the wreck. Four lanes were shut down but some traffic was getting by in a single lane as of 6:45 a.m. The closure was expected to remain in place until about 9:45 a.m., the CHP posted on X.

Backup from the crash was causing a major headache for commuters traveling through the area.

“The southbound side is backed up all the way to the 110 Freeway, and that northbound side is seeing some lookie-loo traffic,” Rich said.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m., the CHP announced the closure would remain in place for an additional two hours.

Per TMZ:

The scene on the 5 Freeway in East L.A. is enough to bring tears to your eyes … not because of the traffic, but because all those eggs are going to waste! CHP officers, who scrambled to the scene, say the truck clipped an overpass, sending the eggs flying across the lanes.

The crash whipped up plenty of looky-loo traffic from drivers who — in addition to being late for work — have the added pain of knowing they’re gonna pay about $9 for a dozen eggs on their next grocery store trip.
