The Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Saturday elected Ken Martin as its next chair.
“We have one team, one team, the Democratic Party,” Martin said, according to Fox News.
“The fight is for our values. The fight is for working people. The fight right now is against Donald Trump and the billionaires who bought this country,” he added.

Fox News reports:
Martin, over the past eight years, has served as a DNC vice chair and has led the association of state Democratic Party chairs.
He topped Wisconsin Democratic Party chair Ben Wikler by over 100 votes among the 428 DNC members who cast ballots as they gathered for the party’s annual winter meeting, which this year was held at National Harbor in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C.
Martin O’Malley, the former two-term Maryland governor and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate who served as commissioner of the Social Security Administration during former President Biden’s last year in office, was a distant third in the voting.
ADVERTISEMENTAmong the longshot candidates were Faiz Shakir, who ran the 2020 Democratic presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and Marianne Williamson, who ran unsuccessfully for the 2020 and 2024 Democratic presidential nominations. Williamson endorsed Martin on Saturday, ahead of the vote.
Martin once called for President Trump to be “put on trial for treason.”
“@realDonaldTrump should be immediately impeached and then put on trial for treason. His actions led to the deaths of American soldiers. He is a traitor to our nation and all those who have served. He is #BenedictDonald,” Martin said in a 2020 tirade.
What the actual f**k!?!? @realDonaldTrump should be immediately impeached and then put on trial for treason. His actions led to the deaths of American soldiers. He is a traitor to our nation and all those who have served. He is #BenedictDonald https://t.co/uAebVU7fiz

From The Washington Free Beacon:
Martin, the head of the Minnesota Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party, received 246.5 votes at the party’s winter meeting, held at National Harbor, Maryland. Wisconsin Democratic Party chairman Ben Wikler came in second place with 134.5 votes, and former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley tallied 44 votes. Martin will replace outgoing chairman Jaime Harrison, the former Senate candidate in South Carolina who spent $100 million in 2022 on a race he lost to Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham by 10 points.
Martin had the endorsements of the influential Rep. Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.) and Minnesota governor Tim Walz and picked up two more ahead of Saturday’s vote, when candidates Marianne Williamson and Nate Snyder dropped out of the race to back him. Wikler had the backing of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), as well as the party’s largest donors. Billionaires Reid Hoffman and George Soros gave $500,000 to Wikler’s Forward PAC, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
Saturday’s vote was preceded by a Native American land acknowledgment and pre-recorded video messages from former president Joe Biden and former vice president Kamala Harris.
