‘He’s Now A Was/Were’: Buttigieg Mocked For Removing Pronouns From Social Media Bio

As we get deeper into President Donald Trump’s second term in office, it seems to be clear that the pendulum is swinging back from the ultra-woke leftism that dominated the past four years.

Among the many anecdotal examples of this societal shift involves the decreasing number of virtue-signaling Americans who include their preferred pronouns in their social media bios.

This week, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg became the latest high-profile leftist to ditch the “he/him,” as the Daily Wire reported:

Times have apparently changed; in 2021, as Pride Month got underway, Chasten Buttigieg spoke of using the “wrong pronoun,” telling CBS News, “Acknowledge that you’re going to mess up. Messing up is uncomfortable. We don’t want to mess up, especially if you consider yourself an ally. Some of these things are new. We live in a very heteronormative society, so of course pronouns are going to seem a little off-putting to someone who’s only done it a certain way for 50, 60, 70 years. But it’s a very, very simple thing to do to help somebody feel included.”

He added: “I have messed up. The most important thing to do is when you mess up, apologize, quickly restate the proper pronouns and move on from there. Always ask questions. If you consider yourself an ally, just ask questions. How can I be supportive? How can I be more helpful? How can I make sure that you know this is a safe space where you belong?”

Literally hours after former President Joe Biden was inaugurated, the White House website permitted users to choose their pronouns.

News of Buttigieg’s missing pronouns quickly fueled a flurry of derisive social media reactions:

Other high-profile Democrats have faced mockery from the right and outrage from the left for ditching their pronouns:

The Trump administration weighed in on the matter this week, ordering federal employees to remove the pronouns from their email signatures, per The Hill:

Employees at federal agencies were instructed to remove pronouns from their email signatures by the end of the workday Friday, according to internal memos obtained by The Hill, in compliance with an executive order issued by President Trump and instructions from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

Labor Department employees were told Friday afternoon in an email that their updated signatures should include only their full legal name and not pronouns.

State Department workers received similar instructions Friday to update their email signatures, according to a memo reviewed by The Hill.

Workers at the Department of Transportation, the Energy Department and the Department of Health and Human Services were also told to remove their pronouns, ABC News reported Friday.

Labor Department employees were told their signatures could also not include “nicknames.”

The directive to remove nicknames appears directed toward transgender workers who have not yet legally changed their names, essentially requiring them to use their “deadname” or their name before transitioning.
