I don’t know how I missed this in 2023 (probably because I don’t really follow the NFL), but this is a classic and I’m so mad at myself for missing this.
After the Chiefs won (again) in 2023, Fox had the broadcast and that means Terry Bradshaw was interviewing all the players and coaches and passing out the trophies after the big win.
When he got to Andy Reid, that’s where things went a bit off the rails — and to be fair to Bradshaw, none of this was scripted and he’s simply trying to be fun and engaging in the moment.
But Bradshaw looks at Andy Reid and tells him to “waddle over here” after calling him the “Big Guy” twice:

Then after Reid waddles over, Bradshaw bookends the interview by ending with telling Reid to “go get a cheeseburger on us!”

So in the span of a minute and 14 seconds, we got two “Big Guys”, one “waddle on over here” and one “go have a cheeseburger” — dang Terry, lay off the man!
According to Yahoo Sports, Bradshaw regrets the moment and says it won’t happen again:
Terry Bradshaw is taking note.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE ahead of Super Bowl LIX, the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback-turned-NFL broadcaster reflected on the controversial remark he made towards Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid after his team’s Big Game victory in 2023.
During the post-game Vince Lombardi Trophy ceremony after the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles to win Super Bowl LVII, the NFL analyst had told Reid to “waddle on over here” for an interview, before ending it by telling the coach to “have a cheeseburger on us.”
Two years later, and ahead of another Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl matchup, Bradshaw opened up about his comment and the ensuing backlash, while looking ahead to again emceeing this year’s trophy ceremony.
Bradshaw, looking back now, says, “Oh. Oh, I am the worst there is,” before explaining what he did in attempt to make amends with Reid afterwards. “So the very next day I called Andy and said, ‘Wow, I am so sorry. I had no idea I’d create such a storm.’ ”
“He was laughing,” Bradshaw says of Reid, remembering the sense of humor he had at the time. “But that’s how it is,” continues the former Steelers QB. “Fans are very protective of their football team. I’m an outsider, so therefore I don’t have a right to say that, and I get it.”
Bradshaw concludes, “I won’t make that mistake this time.”
I would also like to jump in here and offer my two cents….
I don’t think it’s appropriate to bag on Reid for being fat, and certainly “go get a cheeseburger” is uncalled for.
But I do think it’s fair to comment on the fact that Andy Reid looks exactly like a walrus:

And so I got to wondering….do walruses waddle?
And also, is “walruses” the correct plural of walrus? Or is it walri? Hmmmm…
So I turned to ChatGPT who told me walruses (not walri) don’t waddle in the traditional sense, it’s really more like a shuffle or a lumber:
Walruses don’t “waddle” in quite the same way that, for example, penguins or ducks do. When on land, a walrus can rotate its back flippers forward under its body, allowing it to support itself on all four flippers. This posture lets it move along in a lumbering, shuffling manner. While you might informally describe this motion as a “waddle” because it looks a bit awkward or side-to-side, it isn’t a waddle in the strictest sense (like an upright penguin’s gait). It’s more accurate to say walruses “shuffle” or “lumber” across the ground rather than truly waddle.

So Terry, if you plan to make good on it this year, after the Chiefs win again (and we all know they will, right?) when you need to get Andy Reid up on that podium, the correct thing to say is “Shuffle on over here Coach Reid!”
You’re welcome.
