President Trump Warns BRICS Against Trying to Replace U.S. Dollar: “Go Find Another Sucker Nation”

In an absolutely badass Truth Social post, President Trump warned BRICS countries against trying to replace the U.S. dollar as the global standard.

BRICS refers to an alliance between the nations Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, who have discussed plans to move away from the U.S. dollar in recent years.

If they try, however, President Trump plans to hit them with 100% tariffs and cut them off from accessing the U.S. economy.

“They can go find another sucker nation.”

President Donald Trump on Thursday warned off BRICS member countries from replacing the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency by repeating a 100%-tariffs threat he had made weeks after winning the November presidential elections.

“We are going to require a commitment from these seemingly hostile Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs,” Trump said on Truth Social in a statement nearly identical to one he posted on Nov. 30.

At the time, Russia said that any U.S. attempt to compel countries to use the dollar would backfire.

The BRICS grouping includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa and a few other countries that joined in the past couple of year. The grouping does not have a common currency, but long-running discussions on the subject have gained some momentum after the West imposed sanctions on Russia over the war in Ukraine.

“There is no chance that BRICS will replace the U.S. Dollar in International Trade, or anywhere else, and any Country that tries should say hello to Tariffs, and goodbye to America!,” he said.

United States President Donald Trump on Thursday said that his government needs a commitment from the BRICS member countries that they will neither create any new BRICS currency nor support any other currency which will replace the US dollar. Trump said that if the countries decide to do so, they will face 100% tariffs.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar, while we stand by and watch, is OVER. We are going to require a commitment from these seemingly hostile Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful U.S. Economy.”
