Wait….Bill Burr and Billy Corgan Are Brothers?

This is absolutely crazy and something I did not expect to be covering today!

Bill Burr (famous comedian) and Billy Corgan (famous musician, Smashing Pumpkins) are possibly, allegedly, just-look-at-them-almost-certainly, brothers — or perhaps more accurately, “half brothers”.

Once you see it, you almost have to wonder how no one saw it before:

This news is breaking thanks to Howie Mandel who brought the two together in what Bill Burr is angrily calling an “ambush interview”:

The New York Post explains more:

Bill Burr isn’t happy with Howie Mandel after the latter invited an unwanted guest onto their podcast episode.

The comedian, 56, unloaded on Mandel, 69, after Smashing Pumpkins singer, Billy Corgan, 57, showed up mid-interview on the Jan. 21 episode of “Howie Mandel Does Stuff.”

“You’re an a–hole,” Burr told Mandel.

Corgan was under the impression that Mandel informed Burr about his appearance, prompting the podcast host to say, “I thought it would be a good surprise.”

However, it was the opposite for Burr, who asked, “Can this be edited out?” before going with it.

“All right, f–k it, I’ll do it,” Burr said before asking the singer, “Did you ever think the fact that I never told that story … that maybe you shouldn’t?”

The stand-up comedian was referring to a previous podcast episode when Corgan claimed that his stepmom had told him: “Do you know who Bill Burr is? Bill Burr might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a traveling musician.”

And if you’re paying attention, yes this means the alleged father had two kids at roughly the same time with two different ladies and named them each Bill/Billy.

Yahoo News had more:

The comedian then directed his apparent irritation at Corgan. “Did you ever think the fact that I never told that story [meant] that maybe you shouldn’t?”

The story in question came up during Corgan’s November conversation with Mandel, when he revealed that 10 years prior, his stepmother told him that Burr “might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a traveling musician.” Corgan himself recalled his father saying that he had a half-brother named Bill, who was born around the same time as him (Corgan is 57 and Burr 56). The musician insisted at the time that he was being serious, though he later expressed doubts about actually being related to Burr.

While reflecting on the theory with Mandel and Corgan, however, Burr hinted that there may be some truth to the story.

“He was a piece of s—,” he said of his father. “He had two kids this close together, and he gave them the same f—ing name? He thinks it’s different because he’s Billy and I’m Bill. That’s how he told the difference.”

Burr then clarified that while he has nothing against Corgan, the speculation brings up negative memories. In an effort to lighten the mood, Corgan reaffirmed his own doubts, gesturing to Burr and joking, “The fact that he said he can’t sing, I think, disproves that we’re related, ’cause I’m not funny, so…it goes both ways.”

Now it makes more sense why Bill Burr is so angry all the time, doesn’t it?

Now it all makes sense.

Horrible childhood.

Horrible backstory.

Sorry Bill.
