Snoop Dogg Says He’ll ‘Answer With Love’ Amid Backlash Over His Inauguration Performance

Inauguration Day proved to be a star-studded occasion in D.C. as high-profile guests gathered to welcome President Donald Trump back to the White House.

A few artists at related events faced criticism for daring to accept an invitation to perform, including rapper Snoop Dogg.

After becoming one of Trump’s most vocal critics during his first term, the rapper has clearly had a change of heart.

This week, he shared a video of his compassionate response to those who have a problem with his performance.

According to Fox News:

“It’s Sunday, I got gospel in my heart,” he said in the video clip posted on Instagram. “For all the hate I’m going to answer with love, I love too much.”

“Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I’m cool. I’m together. Still a Black man. Still 100% Black. All out ’til you ball out or ’til you fall out.”

“The Next Episode” rapper additionally spoke out about how he has previously dealt with negative responses on the heels of his pre-inauguration performance.

“You ‘gon deal with hate when you get to the top, no matter who you are… Me, personally, I answer it with success and love. That’s my answer to any hate and negativity that comes my way, ’cause it’s the strongest force that can beat it,” he shared on the “R&B Money Podcast,” Saturday.

Snoop’s comments came after he performed at the Crypto Ball as he hyped up Trump supporters and sent a positive and inspirational message through music.

His Crypto Ball performance was met with a mixed response, resulting in significant social media engagement:

This wasn’t the first time he responded to the controversy, as the New York Post reported:

The “Gin & Juice” rapper also addressed the backlash during an appearance on “R&B Money Podcast” over the weekend.

“You gon’ deal with hate when you get to the top, no matter who you are,” he said. “Me, personally, I answer it with success and love. That’s my answer to any hate and negativity that comes my way, ’cause it’s the strongest force that can beat it.”

Snoop wasn’t the only big name to perform at the Crypto Ball. Rick Ross and Soulja Boy also took the stage. Other celebrities, including Carrie Underwood, Billy Ray Cyrus and Nelly performed at other inauguration events.
