President Trump called Jim Acosta “one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history” in a Truth Social post.
“Wow, really good news! Jim Acosta, one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history, a major sleazebag, has been relegated by CNN Fake News to the Midnight hour, ‘Death Valley,’ because of extraordinarily BAD RATINGS (and no talent!),” Trump said.
“Word is that he wants to QUIT, and that would be even better. Jim is a major loser who will fail no matter where he ends up. Good luck Jim!” he added.

Acosta announced his exit from the network on Tuesday.
“You may have seen some reports about me and this show and after giving all of this some careful consideration, and weighing an alternative timeslot CNN offered me, I have decided to move on,” Acosta said.

Per Fox News:
Acosta’s announcement came after days of speculation about his future after he was left off CNN’s updated programming schedule. Acosta’s 10 a.m. ET program was replaced with “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown” in the network’s latest reshuffling.
Acosta said he would announce more about his future plans in the coming days.
“Until then, I want to thank all of you for tuning in. It has been an honor to be welcomed into your home for all of these years,” Acosta said.
CNN confirmed to Fox News Digital that Tuesday was Acosta’s final show.
“Jim has had a long, distinguished nearly 20-year career at CNN, with a track record of standing up to authority, for the first amendment and for our journalistic freedoms. We want to thank him for the dedication and commitment he’s brought to his reporting and wish him the very best in the future,” a CNN spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
Acosta was reportedly offered the midnight ET gig and decided to walk away instead of accepting what much of the media industry considered a significant demotion. One CNN insider told Fox News Digital that they heard Acosta “struggled with the choice,” while another insider suggested CNN leaders didn’t want him to stick around.
X users shared highlights of Acosta’s past interactions with President Trump.

From the New York Post:
After the 2020 election, Acosta transitioned from his role as chief White House correspondent to CNN’s chief domestic correspondent, stepping away from direct political coverage.
However, his departure comes at a time when CNN’s leadership is seeking a more neutral political stance, particularly as Trump returns for a second term.
Last week, Thompson announced a major restructuring that includes 200 job cuts — about 6% of CNN’s workforce — and a strategic shift toward digital media. The layoffs primarily affect producers, editors and non-air staff essential to TV operations.
Thompson, a former New York Times executive known for steering the paper toward digital success, outlined his vision in an internal memo. “Our objective is a simple one: to shift CNN’s gravity towards the platforms and products where the audience themselves are shifting,” he stated.
CNN’s transformation includes streamlining its cable TV operations while expanding its digital subscription services.
Plans include developing a streaming service for news content and launching a lifestyle-oriented digital product. To support this digital transition, parent company Warner Bros Discovery has invested $70 million. Despite the job cuts, CNN plans to create at least 100 new positions in digital media.
