A group of nineteen state Attorney Generals have just penned a letter to Costco over their DEI hiring policies.
In the letter, they warned Costco that DEI is illegal when the company hires candidates based on their race.
The AGs demanded that Costco either drop their DEI procedure or give a good explanation as to why they’re keeping it within 30 days.

The letter comes amid Costco’s decision to stand by their DEI policies, while other big-name stores like Walmart and Target are getting rid of theirs.
It also comes after President Trump signed an Executive Order directing all government agencies to take action to end DEI practices in the private sector.

Nineteen Republican attorneys general have called on Costco Wholesale to abandon its diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, citing concerns about discrimination and legal risks.
This comes after 98% of the U.S. retailer’s shareholders voted last week against a proposal requesting a report on the risks tied to its diversity and inclusion initiatives, pushing back against the growing scrutiny such policies face…
State officials in a letter to Costco’s top boss Ron Vachris accused his company of doubling down on policies they allege violate merit-based principles and federal law.
The 19 Republican officials, co-led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird have demanded Costco notify the states within 30 days whether it will repeal its DEI policies or provide an explanation for maintaining them.
The Washington Times noted:
Costco has doubled down on its woke diversity policies, but Republicans are hoping the company will reconsider.
Nineteen GOP attorneys general, led by Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird and Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, urged the retail giant to end the “unlawful discrimination imposed by the company through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.”
“Although Costco’s motto is ’do the right thing,’ it appears that the company is doing the wrong thing — clinging to DEI policies that courts and businesses have rejected as illegal,” said the Monday letter to Costco President and CEO Ron Vachris.
Costco shareholders voted overwhelmingly at the company’s annual meeting Thursday to reject a shareholder proposal to evaluate the financial risks posed by its DEI initiatives, but the state Republicans urged the company to reconsider.
“Costco should treat every person equally and based on their merit, rather than based on divisive and discriminatory DEI practices,” the letter said. “That reflects President Trump’s executive order encouraging ‘the Private Sector to End Illegal DEI discrimination and Preferences.’”
Mr. Trump issued an executive order Jan. 22 that “directs all departments and agencies to take strong action to end private sector DEI discrimination, including civil compliance investigations.”

I’ve always said I do everything I can to avoid going to Target and Walmart, but now I sadly have to add Costco to that list too!

The parking lots are a mess….
You have to stand in line to checkout for what seems like forever….
