JUST IN: Man Arrested at Capitol Planned Innovative Ass*ssinations; Scott Bessent, SecDev Hegseth, & Speaker Johnson

A man was arrested by Capitol Police yesterday with an innovative plan.

His intention was to kill either the Secretary of Defense or Speaker of the House.

When he arrived at the Capitol and realized Scott Bessent’s confirmation hearing was underway, Capitol Police say he changed his target and planned to assassinate the new Treasury Secretary instead.

Initially that was the report.  Bessent was the target of the man armed with knives, guns, and Molotov cocktails.

But after investigating, the Capitol Police learned from the man that Pete Hegseth or Mike Johnson were the two initial targets.

Eventually, it came out that he was intending to kill BOTH Hegseth and Johnson, and then burn down conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation according to a report in the New York Post:

US Capitol Police arrested an unhinged man with knives and Molotov cocktails who allegedly intended to kill House Speaker Mike Johnson as well as Trump cabinet appointees Pete Hegseth and Scott Bessent.

The man, identified in court documents as Ryan English, traveled from Massachusetts to Washington to carry out the fiendish plot, but wound up turning himself in to a Capitol Police officer by the building’s south door on Monday, the documents reveal.

Officers found a folding knife as well as a pair of “destructive devices” in his jacket pockets.

“The destructive devices were constructed of 50-milliliter bottles of Absolut brand vodka with a grey cloth affixed to its top. A green BIC brand lighter was also recovered from [his] pants’ pocket,” prosecutors said.

Upon searching English’s car, cops found a “750-milliliter bottle of Smirnoff 100-proof vodka and a grey sweatshirt with cloth cut from the sleeves,” which prosecutors noted was the same cloth he had allegedly attached to the completed incendiary devices.

Prosecutors allege English copped to initially planning to kill only Johnson and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, “and/or” burn down the headquarters of conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation.

However, while taking a pit stop in Chevy Chase, Maryland on his way to DC, he learned Scott Bessent was set to be confirmed as Treasury Secretary on Monday and altered his plan.

This incident came just days after another breach.

A man carrying a gun was actually found inside the Capitol after a tour about a week ago.

The man who attempted to assassinate several key figures in the American government, Ryan Michael English of Massachusetts, actually turned himself in to police.

After approaching a Capitol Officer outside the south door of the Capitol, he simply turned himself in according to an article on Channel 4 NBC in DC:

Ryan Michael English, 24, of Massachusetts, was found with a knife and two Molotov cocktails on Monday afternoon near the south door of the Capitol, U.S. District Court records say.

“I’d like to turn myself in,” English said after he approached a U.S. Capitol Police officer, the records say.

Officers detained and searched him and found he had a folding knife, a lighter and two 50-mililiter bottles of vodka with a gray cloth attached to the top.

English told officers he went to the Capitol to kill Bessent, who was being confirmed as Treasury secretary. He said he had more Molotov cocktails in his car.

He said he left home on Sunday with the intention to kill Hegseth, who he called a “Nazi,” and Johnson, as well as burn down The Heritage Foundation. He said he aimed to “depose” the officials and send a message, records say.

As English headed to D.C., he stopped at a library in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and saw Reddit posts about Bessent’s confirmation hearing. He then altered his intended target, the records say.

English intended to throw one of the Molotov coctails at Bessent’s feet.

He told Police he would have then used a knife to stabbed Johnson if he was able to get close enough according to a report by WSAU News Talk Radio:

Based on the affidavit filed in federal court in Washington, D.C., English considered hurling the cocktail at Bessent’s feet. Additionally, English claimed that he would have used a knife to stab Bessent if he had been able to get close enough. Bessent was confirmed by the U.S. Senate by a vote of 68 to 29.

The charges against English include carrying a firearm, explosive, or incendiary device on Capitol property, as well as unlawfully receiving, possessing, or transferring a firearm.

English bought bottles of vodka on the way to the Capitol for surveillance of the area.

He told Police that he turned himself in when he realized he would probably have to kill at least 3 Capitol Police to get to Bessent according to ABC News:

English then bought the bottles of vodka, which they said they intended to ignite and throw “at Bessent’s feet,” the documents said. English said if they were able to get close enough to Bessent, they would’ve stabbed him with a knife, the documents said.

English told officers that when they traveled to the Capitol to conduct surveillance, English surmised they “would have to kill, at least, three U.S. Capitol Police Officers to get to Bessent and kill him,” according to the charging documents. English “expressed acceptance and content with the possibility of suicide by cop,” the affidavit said.

English faces charges of carrying a firearm, dangerous weapon, explosive or incendiary device on Capitol grounds and unlawful receipt, possession and/or transfer of a firearm.

The National Desk published a video report with images of the law enforcement presence following the discovery of the man and his weapons.

It is easy to forget, now that President Trump is in the White House, officially the President again, just how vitriolic things got leading up to the election.

They got so bad that there were multiple high-profile attempts on President Trump’s life, and the overwhelming consensus is that it was likely a political hit, with a true conspiracy at the heart of it.

That danger has not gone away.  If anything, it may have increased simply because President Trump is actively dismantling that broken superstructure of the United States as altered and misaligned by Joe Biden and Friends.

It is also a good warning to us that President Trump isn’t the only plausible target.  We have both domestic and foreign actors intent on causing harm to the U.S. by hitting at our leadership.

We would be wise to get just as serious about massive improvements to our security as we are about the border.

Police discovered a receipt in the man’s pocket upon searching him, which contained a rambling note to someone named Judith.

It seems very plausible that some heartbreak played a role in pushing English over the edge to plan such heinous murders.

Here’s the contents of that note as related by The Post Millennial:

Law enforcement discovered a reciept in English’s back pocket, on the back of which as written, “Judith dear god I am so sorry. You must understand I can feel myself dying slowly b/c of my heart. This is terrible but I cant do nothing while nazis kill my sisters. I love you. This is awful. Im so sorry. I love u. Please stay alive and heal. you can. you are strong enough. F*ck them for pushing us so far. you dont deserve this. Im so sorry for lying and plotting and lying. Please survive [7 hearts],” according to the affidavit.

I am convinced there are more than just these types of knuckleheads out there.  Though these types of guys can certainly do the job given the right opening and circumstance, there are likely others with far more trained capabilities who won’t give up as easily when faced with an obstacles.
